| Strange stylus problems in XP Tablet (ix104) Hi, I am very familiar with win3.1, winNT, win2000 and XP but new to XP tablet version. I have two of the ix104 rugged tablets. They should be exactly identical. As one does these days, I connected both via ethernet to microsoft.com and downloaded all the updates including SP2. Then I noticed some differences between them. On one, the stylus right-click feature (holding it down, or a single click while holding its button) works fine, but I cannot get the stylus sounds to work (although other sounds, Control Panel -> Sounds & Audio Devices, do work OK). On the other, I cannot get the same right-click feature to work at all; the only way to get a right-click is by using the taskbar icon where the little mouse picture changes the buttons from white to red. The stylus button doesn't seem to work at all. But stylus sounds do work OK! It isn't the stylus that's duff because interchanging them doesn't move the problem. I've been through the obvious places (Control Panel -> Tablet & Pen Settings / Pointer Devices) and all the right boxes are checked. Can anyone suggest anything? Is this some known weirdness of XP? It is quite bizzare. The ix104 has what appears to be a dual-mode screen, called "ix104 touch screen" and an "ix104 TPC active screen". With two of the buttons on the end of it one can toggle between these two. In one mode, you get the right-click by holding the pen down (but no pen sounds). Also it uses one of the CP applets for the calibration. In the other mode, you don't get the right-click by holding the pen down (but do get pen sounds). It also uses a different CP applet for calibration. What is really bizzare is why the pen click sound doesn't work in one of them. Opart from the substantial weight, this is the slickest portable PC I've ever used. I should start a website "how to get an ix104 going without dealer support" :) Peter. -- Return address is invalid to help stop junk mail. | Re: Strange stylus problems in XP Tablet (ix104) Excellent solution, Peter. That's an issue between touchscreen and digital recognizers, as you found out. 8-) -- Chris H.
