Toshiba M200 - Bluetooth Question

Hey Guys,

I'm confused so i was hoping someone could help me out. On my M200, i
wanted to play around wth Bluetooth. i recently purchased a Verizon
Audiovox XV6600 Pocket PC Phone that is Bluetooth enabled and wanted to
connect them together. Bluetooth seems to be running fine on my PDA, but
when I try launch it on my M200 I have problems. When I open up the
Bluetooth Settings (version 3.00.32)window (using the blue pen looking thing
in the system tray) and then choose New Connection - I get a "Bluetooth is
not ready" error message. I've downloaded the Stack from Toshiba's Support
website (btstack_xpsp2.exe) and ran it and rebooted my Tablet. I tried
running the BTMonitor again from C:\toshiba\bluetooth but it just asks me if
I want to uninstall it.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Alamo

Re: Toshiba M200 - Bluetooth Question

Are you sure your model has Bluetooth in it? My M200 has it as an option
but I did not order it. I still have all the Bluetooth tools on it for some
reason but no actual Bluetooth hardware.

Re: Toshiba M200 - Bluetooth Question

Thats a good question. How do I figure it out? This laptop was ordered
from our corporate office, i just assumed it had it installed. Is there a
good way of finding out, short of asking to see a copy of the quote/invoice
?

Thanks,
Tommyt

You could look in the device manager - see if you see any bluetooth devices.

My M200 also came with all the bluetooth software, and no hardware to back it
up.

Apparently Toshiba just uses one image for the entire platform line,
regardless of the presense of bluetooth or not.

If there's no bluetooth equipment, then you have an answer. If something
shows there because of the software that was installed, you should be able to
remove it, then redetect hardware, and have it show up again if it's really
there. I don't recall offhand what showed in mine since the first thing I did
when I got it was rebuild it to a clean image rather than use what came with
it.

BlueTooth. Oh well!!!

Thanks,

Yep. It's an option, but I wish they didn't have all that stuff there to
confuse people who buy a new tablet. You're certainly not the first one who
got caught by this.

Re: Toshiba M200 - Bluetooth Question

While holding down the Function key [Fn] press the F8 key at the top and you
should see a series of icons indicating Wi-Fi, bluetooth, a combination of
both, or no Wi-Fi. Tapping the F8 key while holding down the {Fn} key will
allow you to toggle through these. I would start there.

Thanks,
Peter

Toshiba M200 - Bluetooth Question

I'm trying the exact same think with a new blackberry and
having the same problem. I was of the belief that the

Re: Toshiba M200 - Bluetooth Question

Although the Bluetooth software is installed by default, not all M200 models
come with Bluetooth radio. On Control Panel, open System and check the
Device list. If Bluetooth is not listed there, then that's it.
