| Can I download an Intel Utility to control the Centrino's speed? Dear friends: Can I download an Intel Utility to control the Centrino's speed? I have detected that when I use my ACER C-110TCi TabletPC in summer and with AC power, it gets a little warm. Maybe, if I can adjust the CPU's speed, I can lower the power usage and thus the temperature. Microsoft's Power Control Panel applet doesn't allow you to do that. This problem doesn't happens when I use my TabletPC with batteries. I remember that an older IBM Thinkpad I had, came with this kind of utility. Any hint? Thanks Juan I. | Re: Can I download an Intel Utility to control the Centrino's speed? Haven't heard of it, Juan, but you might check the Intel web site. I would believe if you lower the power (stepping down) it is going to be detrimental to your usage. The situation is one where if you're using a convertible Tablet PC in slate-type mode with the screen covering the keyboard, you're blocking the nature escape route of the hot air through the keyboard itself. -- Chris H. Both of my Toshiba machines, the 3500 and the M200, have a power app that lets you select the speed of the CPU, and many other power settings. Do you -- John |

| Re: Can I download an Intel Utility to control the Centrino's speed? Intel's official line (as far as I know) with the Centrino set is that it controls speed automatically. I have the Acer c111 and find it can get hot too...but only when plugged in and running at full speed. If you need to cool it down you can unplug it for a bit and it will step down accordingly. (Your performance will drop too).
