Upgrading from XP Hime to Tablet Edition.

Hi:
I'm considering purchasing a tablet, but the supplier I'm looking at
(Iridium-uk) is only supplying thier tablets with XP Home or Pro. I would
like to use the Microsoft Tablet Edition operating system instead. Is there
an upgrade path available to me, or do I need to use another supplier.

Thnaks in advance.

No, there is no "upgrade" path. True Tablet PCs come with Windows XP Pro
and the Tablet PC Edition already installed. Chances are the device you're
looking at doesn't have the proper hardware to give you the Tablet PC
experience of digital recognizers on a screen you can physically touch
(unlike a touchscreen).

Re: Upgrading from XP Hime to Tablet Edition.

Thanks Chris.
In that case I'll avoid them and get something better.

Cheers

Re: Upgrading from XP Hime to Tablet Edition.

If you're looking for a real Tablet PC with the functions expected from a
Tablet, take a look at Tablet PC MVP Terri Stratton's web site -
http://thetabletpc.net - and her comparison charts. She's got complete
charts on all the slates, convertible and hybrid models currently on the
market. Those are the ones known to live up to the high standards expected
for user experience.
