| Installed SP2; how do I get Tablet PC 2005? How do I know I have the Tablet PC Edition 2005 upgrade? I installed SP2 but I can't locate Tablet PC 2005 anywhere? I go back to Windows Update and no updates are shown.... Did I do something wrong while updating to SP2? |

| Re: Installed SP2; how do I get Tablet PC 2005? Thanks for the info... but let me start over by saying, "I just bought a new NO NAME brand Tablet PC, and it didnt come with an OS on it. So I went and purchased XP Professional for it. <- saved some money doing it that way. And I read on the Microsoft Tablet PC website that Tablet PC 2005 Edition is included in SP2. Now I downloaded SP2, and Tablet PC edition 2005 is no where to be found :( Does this mean that since my Tablet PC came without a pre-loaded OS on it. I am just stuck using XP Professional with no Tablet PC enhancements? or is there a place on the net where I can just download Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 on my own? Thanks, and sorry for the confusion... "Chris H." wrote: > Right-click My Computer and select Properties. | Re: Installed SP2; how do I get Tablet PC 2005? If you installed Windows XP from a Microsoft installation CD and used that Product Key, then all you have is Windows XP. You can only get the Tablet PC operating system from an OEM with a particular Product Key that identifies it as including the Tablet PC superset. When you installed SP2, it looked at your Product Key and determined that since you only had XP installed, you would not need the Tablet 2005 enchancements since you are not and were not running an authorized Tablet PC operating system. So, yes, you are stuck with XP Pro only. The only workaround would be if you had a subscription to MSDN (about $1500) where you could obtain the Tablet PC OS for test and evaluation. You need to contact the vendor of your computer and see why you did not get the operating system. Nobody else can really be of any help. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express Please reply to newsgroup only. If you're running Windows XP on it (non Tablet) then installing Service Pack 2 won't get you Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005. You'd actually need the Tablet PC Edition of Windows XP for this to work. I'm 99% sure it's only available with Tablet PC hardware (or for MSDN developers). -- Paul Smith, Yeovil, UK. http://www.dasmirnov.net/ http://windows.dasmirnov.net/ Windows XP Resource Site. *Replace nospam with smirnov to reply by e-mail* |

| Re: Installed SP2; how do I get Tablet PC 2005? Installing SP2 over Windows XP will give you Windows XP SP2, not Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005. SP2 includes upgrades for existing operating systems such as Tablet PC and Media Center. In other words, if you have Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2002 using a valid Tablet PC key, you'll get the upgrade to 2005. Buying a noname tablet gets you just that - a tablet that runs Windows XP, but not Windows XP Tablet PC Edition. -- Terri Stratton Editor / Owner http://thetabletpc.net http://themediacenterpc.net Subscribe to our RSS Feeds for the latest news Microsoft Windows MVP / Tablet PC "Can't Find Tablet PC Edition 2005 :(" <Can't Find Tablet PC Edition 2005 :(@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B6215CC2-DF9A-4133-BD69-35A940571D20@microsoft.com... > Thanks for the info... but let me start over by saying, "I just bought a > new > NO NAME brand Tablet PC, and it didnt come with an OS on it.
