problem remote starting ink enabled programs from a service

I have a program that uses microsoft ink that can be remotely started from a
custom service. When I remote start on a desktop machine running XP ver5.1 w/
sp2 the program starts up just fine. When I try to remote start the program
on a Tablet PC running the XP tablet pc ed. ver 5.1 w/ sp2 I get a
catastrophic error in the microsoftInk.dll. It seems to be hardware
independent for tablets since I have the same problem on three different
tablet pc hardware platforms. In doing some testing, I modified my service to
start Windows Journal instead and it seems to suffer the same problem. It has
an ink initializing error when started. Being new to the realm of Micorsoft
Ink and Tablets I am in need of some ideas from those with more knowledge. If
anyone has any suggestions of what might be causing this I would greatly
appreciate the help.

-John

Remote Desktop sessions are a problem. If you are speaking of a programming
issue you're working on, you would want to post to the
microsoft.public.windows.tabletpc.developer newsgroup.

Otherwise, take a look at the article on the Expert Zone by MVP Charlie

Re: problem remote starting ink enabled programs from a service

Hello John,

You can enable inking in an application only if it runs in the same session
as the pen service (wisptis.exe).

Thanks,
