Alt-tab

Is there a way to switch between open programs using alt-tab with a Tablet
PC? That is, where the alt and tab keys are not available.

Re: Alt-tab

If you're in a program where the floating TIP isn't available, use the
keyboard in the docked position. Tap the Alt, then tap Tab. The "Alt" key
will stay highlighted until you tap it again so that you can navigate
between windows just by tapping the "Tab" key.

Re: Alt-tab

Beside what Terri mentioned about the Tablet Input Panel, if you want you
could take a look in Control Panel/Tablet and Pen Settings/Tablet Buttons
tab. Most Tablet PCs have buttons which are available at all times,
including the convertible models, where you could designate one for the
Alt-Tab action.

I thought that was an option, but I looked before I posted. Although I saw
many different key combos and options for the buttons, Alt/Tab was not one,
although Alt/Esc was.

Works here, Terri, with the selection of "Press a key or key combination."
Perhaps it is by systems? This works on both the Toshiba M200 and Motion
1300.

Re: Alt-tab

May be, but glad that it works. Seemed odd that it didn't. I didn't take a
long time hunting, just looked at the options listed.

I tend to use the onscreen keyboard more than the Tablet keys since I can
usually make them do what I want without having to think about what
sequence, etc. to use for different things.

Thanks for the reply, but Im confused. What do you mean by using the
keyboard in a docked position. I don't have a docking station and the
keyboard is covered by the screen after it is rotated and place on top.

Re: Alt-tab

Sorry I wasn't clear enough. You can use the onscreen keyboard by using a
gesture to bring it up. Move the pen from side to side slightly above the
bottom of the screen to bring up the onscreen keyboard. This puts it at the
bottom of the screen (docked position). You always have access to the
onscren keyboard, even when the physical keyboard isn't available.

Re: Alt-tab

Sure, for ordinary use, but when youre giving a presentation in public
(which is the major reason I bought a tablet) its very unprofessional to
have to bring up the virtual keyboard when you just want to switch between
applications.

Easy enough to change the behavior of one of the buttons, then a simple
touch is all you need.

Agreed, for a presentation, it's not a good solution, so setting a button to
use Alt/Tab is a much better resolution.

Hi Neal

I use the freeware program StrokeIt, and assigend a pen gesture, e.g.
down-up stroke to Alt-Tab. It will act as if you press Alt+Tab once BUT it
does not give you the ability to have the SwitchTask window openend and let
you scroll through all open application.
If I need this, I rather use the Toshiba M200's CrossMenu utility.

A tap on the task bar will do the same thing -- just tap the program you want
to switch to with the pen. It will pop in front.

I see the cross menu utility, but I have no idea how to use it. There is no
help file or anything. Is its use described somewhere?
