M200, BlueLogger, and Bluetooth

I got the DeLorme "BlueLogger" GPS and am trying to control it using
the built-in Bluetooth on my M200.

The M200 Bluetooth manager sees the BlueLogger OK, but the DeLorme
software won't connect to it. That software just hangs trying to
connect. Meanwhile the PC and the Logger both show a solid bluetooth
connection.

The DeLorme people said this:

>Our BlueLogger GPS will function for real-time tracking in our Street Atlas
>USA program under the specified COM port, set to Generic NMEA and 4800bps,
>however our //BlueLogger manager// software requires a 19200 baud rate which the
>Toshiba Bluetooth drivers do not support.
>
>//BlueLogger manager// will not work on your machine due to the lack of support
>for higher baud rates in the Toshiba Bluetooth device drivers.

The BlueLogger manager software is what I'm trying to run.

So they're saying that the Toshiba drivers are the problem. I am
running the original drivers, and I have SP2 installed and not the
post-SP2 drivers. Installation of those looks like a bit of a hassle.

So I'm interested in whether this message from DeLorme is BS or true,
and whether an upgrade will help.

I also have a bluetooth PC Card that I could try, whether trying to
get the Toshiba stack upgraded makes sense, whether going back to the
Microsoft stack makes sense, and so on.

Any and all help will be welcome. Thanks!

Re: M200, BlueLogger, and Bluetooth

Ron, I would strongly recommend you upgrade ALL the drivers available on the
Toshiba web site. They are XP SP2-specific, and really are easy to install.

Seems worth a try. The Bluetooth drivers, though, seem to want to be
installed BEFORE SP2. Should I just ignore that advice? It seems like
a really bad idea to unload SP2 and reload it. It was painful enough
the first time!

Are there drivers that you would particularly remember as valuable?

Thanks,

Valuable, yes. On the download page, use Windows XP SP2 in the Filter by
Operating System section. You'll see the all ones you need to install.

Re: M200, BlueLogger, and Bluetooth

I just purchased the Bluelogger and have had the same problem with it
communicating with my M200. Updating Toshiba's Bluetooth stack won't
help. I have yet to try Microsoft's. I think Delorme is speaking the
truth as I tested the Bluelogger on a friends computer with no issues and
the support people at Delorme said it has been proven to work on the M200,
but only with a Bluetooth adapter. I'm pissed at Toshiba for selling me on
the $50 Bluetooth upgrade that has turned out to be worthless. I just keep
putting off the call to Toshiba as I dredd Tech Support calls. Let me know
if you were ever able to get it to work and how....At least in the meantime
I can use it as a generic 4800 baud GPS with the mapping software. BTW,
did you ever get to talk to someone at Delorme? I was forced to wait for
their email responses on their schedule--Lame tech support if you ask me.

Avery
