TIP (atablet input panel)

I have a Fujitsu ST4110 Slate and no docking station. I use the pen for
input. When I started using SP2, the default for my machine was "undock" (I
did not set it to that). For the last 4 wks, I must open the input panel and
set it to undock and do so for each startup. I even went throught the agony
and agony of uninstalling/reinstalling SP2, hoping that would fix the
problem, but no joy.

Re: TIP (atablet input panel)

Perhaps it is just a little understanding of the method of use, Carl. The
Undock of the Tablet Input Panel provides a little Tablet Access icon
(floating icon) when your cursor is in a text input area. Otherwise the
Tablet Input Panel is hidden.

If you launch the TIP from the Taskbar icon either by tapping or using the
"shake" motion over the Taskbar icon, the TIP reverts to Dock position (top
or bottom of screen, according to your choice set in Options). Once the
motion or tap is performed, the TIP holds that Dock position until we change
it in the Options.

If the TIP is set to Undock, and you do neither of the above, it will (or is
supposed to) remain in Undock, even through restarts, reboots, etc.

Re: TIP (atablet input panel)

Thanks for the info but the TIP reverts to the Dock position on restart. I'd
done "scannow" and nothing changed.

Re: TIP (atablet input panel)

Bummer. I don't know if it is related, but since updating to XP SP2 and the
Tablet PC Edition 2005, have you updated drivers for your system? I just
restarted my system again to verify the Undock mode remains, and it does.

If you haven't already, I would get the latest Wacom drivers for your pen
here: http://www.wacom.com/tabletpc/ and install that. Additionally,
Fujitsu has four "recommended" updates on their site:

Re: TIP (atablet input panel)

Which means you've installed them since adding XP SP2? If not, I would
simply reinstall. XP SP2 made a lot of changes in Windows XP, and not all
drivers are properly registered and functional after those changes.
