Maxthon contextual TIP input

Hi :)

For those who've been missing tablet support in Maxthon, I've attached a
manifest file so that it will support the new contextual 2005 URL TIP (like
IE does).

Just place the file in the some directory as maxthon.exe.

Please do not post binaries in this newsgroup, but feel free to offer them
hosted on a web site somewhere with a readme file telling the user where and
how to install it.

No problem, but we don't post them here. There are too many "bad guys"
around these days, and the general recommendation for user protection is to
avoid downloading files randomly posted. For those who know the procedure
to verify the safety of the file with their anti-virus software, it would be
no problem though this is not a binary newsgroup.

Re: Maxthon contextual TIP input

I didn't expect so much coldness. If it's such a big deal, why aren't
attachments filtered at the news server level?

By most definitions, an XML file is not a binary file - executables and raw
"memory dumps" of data are but not text files. Binary doesn't just mean
"everything stored digitally"

I was just trying to help. I could have just pasted the 20 or so lines of
the file as part of the message rather than inside an attachment block and
none would have cared.

Oh well, I'm off to find a more hospitable tablet pc list.

Re: Maxthon contextual TIP input

Sorry for the reception. Not all of us feel that way.

You're corect that an .xml file isn't dangerous, however, since many new
users don't know how to tell what a file really is, there is always the
danger of malware being disguised. Please don't think we were suggesting
that's what you were doing.

Yes, often posting within the message is the best if there's no place that
you can direct a url to.

Please know that you're more than welcome here. We're always appreciative of
help.

Re: Maxthon contextual TIP input

Don't worry about it. It is a minor thing, and we will all get over it. We
are a friendly group here, however anyone "unknown" by only having a few
posts is going to be suspect when they suddenly post an attachment in a
public newsgroup which is not a binary group.

It varies from group to group. I didn't mean it in a cold way, I was
just saying it was a binary file, in the format it was posted.

I know what an xml file is, but that was a binary copy of an xml file.

Indeed.

> Oh well, I'm off to find a more hospitable tablet pc list.

Appologies for sounding unfriendly, I was just saying that in that
format it was binary. It is a hospitible group in here but if what i
said upset you, just ignore me rather than the group!

Re: Maxthon contextual TIP input

Thanks for this. The lack of the context sensitive TIP was my one complaint
with Maxthon. I dont think I'll be launching IE on it's own for a while now
:)

Re: Maxthon contextual TIP input

Thong,

I've already sent one post back but it didn't show up; it seems that
"server" is filtering "politically incorrect" posts which does not
contain hail of approval from "gods" here who can state for pure XML
file that it is binary just because it contains .exe in file name...

I wouldn't bother with these posts too much; send in what you have -
smart ones will use it as they should and if "server" filters it out ...
well,...

Re: Maxthon contextual TIP input

If one of your posts didn't make it through, then look to a server problem
rather than filtering. Odds are very high that your post wasn't filtered.
