| Re: Tablet PC / "Standard" Windows Software It is possible to use the Address TextField in FireFox by first summoning the TIP using its icon or gesture (waving the pen above the screen). However, it would be better for this to occur just from selecting the TextField. I didn't mean to pick on FireFox in particular - I used it as an example since it has come up in previous threads and is familiar to many people. | Re: Tablet PC / "Standard" Windows Software A few days after Firefox 1.0 came out people were still arguing over whether there was a 1.0-compatible plugin and whether it worked. Is everything working yet? If so, where do we find the plugin? "Woody" <usenet@alienrat.co.uk> wrote in message news:MPG.1c19694e534812e5989698@192.168.254.11... > Or using the Firefox TIP plugin. |

| Re: Tablet PC / "Standard" Windows Software With the TIP in keyboard mode the TIP closes after each character is entered. This is not a good advertisement for XP Tablet. I think I'll wait for the next version. "Woody" <usenet@alienrat.co.uk> wrote in message news:1go6skz.15su3acr8hneeN%usenet@alienrat.co.uk. .. > open it in firefox. | Re: Tablet PC / "Standard" Windows Software I don't know why you and MVP Mike are having such problems; the TIP extension posted on the Buzz works fine for me, and I leave FF open for DAYS. Sometimes the TIP will get a little shy, and then it won't come out to play, but that's not often or even daily, and though I've now had my Tablet for over six months, I still haven't learned how to PUT IT DOWN! So once again I use IE only when I have to, like for Expert Zone chats and our SharePoint web site. The imp in me wants to suggest you guys update all your drivers and defrag, but I'm just being a goofball. Will you forgive me? I did resist the temptation yesterday. -- TCPW The Miniature Mage "Mickey Segal" <ignored@example.com> wrote in message news:%23Vu7cMM2EHA.1188@tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... > With the TIP in keyboard mode the TIP closes after each > character is entered. | Re: Tablet PC / "Standard" Windows Software How far away from the screen are you moving the pen between letters? You need to keep it within about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch for the recognizer to know it is there. If you're tapping the key, picking up the pen and moving to another letter, you are probably causing the issue with your motion. -- Chris H. With the extensions installed, FF can fail within a minute of being launched - just crashes with my home page(s) sitting open. Reinstalling FF and/or the extensions makes no difference, but the crashing stops as soon as the extension is uninstalled. I had no problems under 1.0PR build or earlier. |

| Re: Tablet PC / "Standard" Windows Software I was not pulling the pen away. The problem doesn't happen with the TIP in other applications. In Firefox the problem only happens in the TIP keyboard view, but unfortunately that is the view one would need most for the address TextField in Firefox. I remember someone else describing a similar problem, but I forget if it was in a similar context.
