Yes, I did. But after 'very cold' boot the device disappears from device manager and is detected again. -- Gérard gj.oomens@somso.demon.nl |

| Re: USB composite device See if you can update the drivers for it, and then make sure you're not uninstalling it. Only use Disable. If the device is just disabled, the > system should not be recognizing it and trying to reinstall it. I have the latest drivers; in fact I tried all available drivers. I do not uninstall the device, but I just disable it. But it gets lost after power down for a longer period and Windows detects it again. I repeat, when I shut down the pc, leave it for a short period alone, start up again, all is well, the device is there. SP 2 is probably the cause of this, that's why hp suggested to format and reinstall the whole system. But since the time to detect the device has decreased, I can live with this weird behavior. Thank you for your support. -- Gérard gj.oomens@somso.demon.nl |

If you're getting the same reaction there, perhaps the OEM is correct that something is goofed up on the system. -- Chris H. There is only a possibility to check/uncheck devices to detect or being detected. That also makes no difference. Goofed, yes, but only after 'long' power down! -- Gérard gj.oomens@somso.demon.nl |

If it's (bluetooth device) not there there comes an additional (unknown) usb device, but that disappears if the bluetooth hp device has been found again. If I try to disable that unknown device it disappears too and reappears while detecting again, till the hp bluetooth is found. The hp bluetooth device is not listed in the usb controllers list, but has a separate entry in device manager. -- Gérard gj.oomens@somso.demon.nl |

| Re: USB composite device You have an "unknown device" listed in Device Manager? If so, that probably needs to be offered the factory drivers (off your OEM CD/DVD) to get it installed properly in the first place, then the Bluetooth would behave properly. Sounds like there is an associated functionality which is not installed correctly. -- Chris H. I have only an unknown device, when the pc lost track of the bluetooth device and is detecting it again, when starting the pc. Normally I don't have an unknown device, only then. And that disappears when the hp bluetooth is detected again. -- Gérard gj.oomens@somso.demon.nl |

| Re: USB composite device How about trying an uninstall of it in Device Manager, restart the system, and when it identifies the "found new hardware" give it the Support Software for Bluetooth by HP, version 3.00E dated November 1, 2004, from here: http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...e/97_5840.html -- Chris H.
