| windows 2003 Server "tablet edition"? Hello all We have some Toshiba Protege M200 Tablet PC's which we want to install for some reason (SUS Service) with Software which requires this OS. The thing is I cannot find appropriate drivers for this system ... Q: is it possible at all that we can run this Server OS on this Laptop with all the functionallity of a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition? Thanks, Armin |

I think the best you'll be able to do, prior to Longhorn*, is to dual-boot Tablet OS and W2003 Server, the latter forgoing Tablet functionality. *Assuming Microsoft builds Tablet functionality into future Windows base : I haven't seen any firm public direction announced here. |

I really don't understand what your goal is here. What is a single board computer, and what do you mean by wanting to "sus" them? SUS is designed to be a method to have a central location to distribute updates to multiple computers. If all you want to do is to update a single computer, that's what Automatic Updates are for. No need for SUS. -- Paul Adare "On two occasions, I have been asked [by members of Parliament], 'Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?' | Re: windows 2003 Server "tablet edition"? > But I really need the tablet functionallity - is there no way to do so? > armin Nearly everything except the recognizers are actually built into Windows Server 2003, but the input panel and recognizers are missing, so all you get is digital ink support in applications designed for it. Note however that many ink enabled application will give you access to these features only when installed on a Tablet PC OS, whether or not your OS includes the components. A better solution if you really need both would be using Windows XP Tablet PC edition as your OS, and Windows Server 2003 in a Virtual PC on top of it (add 1GB of RAM to your tablet pc to start with). -- Philippe Majerus Microsoft MVP - Mobile Devices (http://support.microsoft.com/support/mvp) Software, Documentation and stuff - http://www.phm.lu |
