Toshiba Digitizer repair success

Getting ready to send my Toshiba 3505 for the all too common pen only works
on parts of the screen problem.

Are there any success stories - i.e.: the problem went away after repair
for good? My original worked for about 11 months - but my extended warranty
only has about a year left, therein lies my concern.

I was hoping the original digitizers had a defect that had been resolved for
the replacements, but had not read anything to this effect.

Thanks in advance.

NM

Re: Toshiba Digitizer repair success

I believe some of the 3505's had a problem with the digitizer, and Toshiba
has been aware of the issue. It should be fixed up for you just fine.

Re: Toshiba Digitizer repair success

I've talked with Wacom about the problem. It's due to an issue in one of the
two connectors from the digitizer to the controller board. (Each connector
handles half the screen, that's why only half the screen is dead.) Toshiba
will replace the connector with an "improved" version that eliminates the
problem. The repair is free.

Re: Toshiba Digitizer repair success

Chris, are there things that I should tell the repair people regarding how to
address the problem of the vertical dead zone area of my touch screen?

Re: Toshiba Digitizer repair success

I would provide them a written description of the problem, David. Tell them
what you've checked already, what the techs have said when you talked with
them, and they can take it from there.

Should be sufficient, as Toshiba has seen many, many digitizer problems on
their 3500's.

I know many people who have sent them in for fix. It's probably one of the
most common questions asked in here over the last two years pertaining to the
3500.
