Extended desktop

I use the extended desktop feature while my tablet (M1400) is in its docking
station on my desk at work.
This works great having two screens to work with. Problem is that when I
take the tablet out of the docking
station the apps that were sitting on the extra (extended) monitor still go
off the screen even though the
extended screen is not there. I can't grab anything to drag thm back onto
the tablet screen. I've been
remembering to set the graphics option back to only displaying on the tablet
screen but now that I'm
undocked and home for the weekend that option is not available without the
other monitor attached.
Any ideas on how to get the extended screen suhut off after undocking?

Thanks,
Bill
