| Tablet PC with 1400x1050 display ? Hi, I'm looking around for a replacement for my aging Toshiba M200 and from their website it seem they no longer do a tablet with the 1400x1050 display, only widescreens. Is this true, and if so then can anyone tell me who makes a tablet pc with the resolution I require ? Thanks, Mike |

| Re: Tablet PC with 1400x1050 display ? think the m200 is the only tablet with 1400x1050 I have ever heard mentioned.. there was a discussion about resolutions here a year or so ago... google groups time (they allow searching old threads) http://groups.google.com/group/micro...tabletpc?hl=en here's a starting point http://groups.google.com/group/micro...470fa25cde7be9 Are you asking about the tablet screen or the video card capabilities? fwiw, I use my 1024x768 fuji with a 1920x1080 samsung LCD TV/Mon, so, another consideration if you can't find what you are asking is to assure that the tablet's video card will support both large external screens as well as offering a variety of working resolutions. Is this true, and if so then can anyone tell > me who makes a tablet pc with the resolution I require ? Was looking for a similar upgrade/replacement tablet last week. The 1500x1050 SXGA+ is dying with the terriblyt popular widescreen WGA. No 1680x1050 WSXGA+ or better tablets are in sight :-/ For SXGA+ some old X61t's and M400 are on ebay etc -- but the X61y with digitizer only, not digi+touch, and a bezel separation problem that appears sooner than later. In total I found only two sxga+ option tablets that are not stone age junk: the Fujitsu T4010 and the Motion LE1700 slate. http://www.motioncomputing.com/produ...et_pc_le17.asp - Jan |

Does seem really interesting for me as it has a detachable keyboard which I'm used to with my good old HP tc1100. And the extended battery would be most useful for my purposes. I'm a bit skeptical in the SSD drive. Rainald |

The Motion Computing LE1700 (http://www.motioncomputing.com/produ...et_pc_le17.asp) has exactly that resolution. Like all tablets it's not exactly a 'rocket' but it's decent. Esp. since I've put in a 120 GB disk (Samsung spin point N2) which allows me now to keep several directories being constantly synched between the tablet and my desktop (using Syncing.Net - see http://www.syncing.net) it has become really useful & convenient. And it's screen resolution and feeling is really nice! As I already wrote elsewhere: it's the only device I ever felt like reading even longer texts on (which probably saved a few trees...) The only drawback: the company isn't very widely known and there are only very few companies that distribute them and even fewer that have them on display so that one can actually see and feel them before ordering. Yes, the processor is not too strong :-( > Esp. since I've put in a 120 GB disk (Samsung spin > point N2) which allows me now to keep several directories being > constantly synched between the tablet and my desktop (using > Syncing.Net - see http://www.syncing.net) it has become really useful > & convenient. Interesting. Thanks! > And it's screen resolution and feeling is really nice! How about the "outdoor" contrast? This would be really important for me. As much as I love my good old COMPAQ tc1100, the often I'm kept from doing what I want: Doing my work in the garden ;-) ;-) > As I already wrote elsewhere: it's the only device I ever felt like > reading even longer texts on (which probably saved a few trees...) > > The only drawback: the company isn't very widely known and there are > only very few companies that distribute them and even fewer that have > them on display so that one can actually see and feel them before > ordering. That's an in general problem. These days even "standard" devices are hardly available for checking the "look & feel" and even in Frankfurt - one of the main German "business" cities - I would not know where to have a look at one of the most popular TabletPC models. {siiigh} Rainald |

So if you can arrange a little bit of shadow it works. BTW: Meanwhile the company also offers a version with a "view anywhere" display which they claim is better in sunlight. I have never used nor seen that display myself, but trying to get access to such a model might be worth a try... Michael |

Yes, that's what I have in mind. > I have > never used nor seen that display myself, but trying to get access to > such a model might be worth a try... I really have no idea where to get hold of a test machine :-( :-( Rainald |
