| m 200 SP2 installation What is the best sequence to follow for m 200 SP2 installation? Should new drivers from the Toshiba web Site be installed first? -Thanks in advance for any help, Paul |
| |||
| Re: m 200 SP2 installation Paul, what I did was download the XP SP2-specific updates first, and saved them to a folder on my second partition. You could also save them in your My Documents structure, so they won't be touched. Then I did the XP SP2/Tablet PC Edition 2005 update from CD, starting on the desktop. Once it finished, I methodically went through each of the driver upgrades. Also, remember to get the Wacom penabled driver for your system from www.wacom.com/tabletpc/. -- Chris H. | Re: m 200 SP2 installation Yes, I did the same sequence, except I did the wacom before the upgrade. I'd recommend that, given some experiences I've heard of. You may still need to re-install the wacom driver after the upgrade, but getting the newer one on there is a good idea. -- Charlie. And I did it the opposite, I had the drivers updated before SP2. So it would look as if it will function with either method, as I've been running well. Agree with the wacom driver though - no matter what I do, I always reinstall it since it seems to be the most vulnerable part of a tablet, the one thing that seems to always get overwritten even when you'd never expect it to get touched by what you're doing. -- John |

| Re: m 200 SP2 installation HELP! I did a stupid thing - I did the install on the SP2 without researching it. Not like me, but that little auto update reminder kept popping up... and... I had a few extra minutes to kill.... and I did it. My M200 is locked up with a screen showing the Windows logo, the pen keyboard, and a "Windows is starting up...." message. It has remained this way for over an hour, and it will not respond to anything I do except to tell me to use the tablet button instead of pushing control-alt-delete. I really need to get this working!!! At this point I want to get rid of the SP2 for now and put things back the way they were. ANY help would be very greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance, Steve "Charlie Russel - MVP" wrote: > Yes, that's been my experience as well. > > -- > Charlie. > > JDThree [MVP] wrote: > > On 10/29/2004 12:13:32 AM, "Charlie Russel - MVP" wrote: > >> Yes, I did the same sequence, except I did the wacom before the > >> upgrade. | Re: m 200 SP2 installation 8-) Remove the power pack from the unit, then remove the battery. Leave them out for about five minutes and then put the battery back in, then connect to the power source again. -- Chris H. | Re: m 200 SP2 installation You mean it wasn't the prayer I said??? :-) Thanks for your reply. I sort of did this on my own. I had resolved a lock-up in the past by letting the battery run down, then plugging in the power cord and starting it back up. It worked this time too. Thanks again, Steve "Chris H." wrote: > 8-) Remove the power pack from the unit, then remove the battery. | Re: m 200 SP2 installation 8-) Might have been, Steve. However, you don't need to discharge the battery. Just shut down the unit, then pull the battery and unplug the power pack. -- Chris H.
