Motion M1300 USB ports

Does anyone know for certain if all the USB ports are 2.0 on these
devices (and the docking station)? I keep getting the Windows warning
that my USB 2.0 devices would perform better on a USB 2.0 port, and then
the totally incomprehensible USB port map which does not relate to the
physical layout of the device.

Re: Motion M1300 USB ports

http://www.motioncomputing.com/about..._12022003b.asp claims
it is USB 2.0: "The customizable system offers the same award-winning M1300
features, including a 12.1-inch display, 802.11b or 802.11g wireless
capability and USB 2.0 -- but uses Intel's ultra low-voltage Celeron
technology with 512KB of Level 2 cache and a 400MHz front side bus."

I haven't gotten such warnings with my M1300, but I've only used a USB mouse
and a USB 2 memory stick.

Mike,

I'm checking with Engineering for a definitive answer.

Re: Motion M1300 USB ports

Mike,

The "official word" is that the M1300's USB ports are 2.0. The FlexDock
docking station is not "certified" for USB 2.0, as it was designed prior to
the USB 2.0 specification. However, the FlexDock should support USB 2.0 by
virtue of its design.

So, any explanation for the warnings? I get them for one of the unit
ports and at least one of the docking station ports. I'm also getting
1.0 performance :-(

Re: Motion M1300 USB ports

Mike, does the USB list in the device manager give any clues? Have you
tried removing them and letting them reinstall?

I have one USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller and 3 USB Universal Host
Controllers listed (this is in docked state). When some other tasks are
done, I'll undock and look again. Certainly I have noticed that I only
get the error message with one of the slate ports and so I tend to use
that port for the USB keyboard and put more demanding peripherals in the
other.

No, but I've rebuilt this tablet a couple of times and it comes up the
same way each time pre and post SP2. I reported it to Motion some months
back but didn't get a response. I know they got the mail because other
issues in it (to do with my Motion hard-top keyboard) did get a response.

Re: Motion M1300 USB ports

Mike, I've seen the error when I try to use a USB2 device on the dock, but
not when the tablet is undocked. I wonder if the dock port isn't releasing
properly when it's undocked, thus over-riding the slate port when it looks
for it.

Just a wild guess. I've seen the same error on occasion, but not often
enough to follow through on it. I'll see if I can find out anything.

I ran the tablet undocked for many months as I had my dock in storage,
so I would be inclined to try something else.
