Vertical blank columns

While using pen function and drawing horizontally across
the page I get vertical blank columns. I have used
Journal/RepairNoteWriter but that did not help.

Re: Vertical blank columns

Sounds like your pen is in the mode to realign columns instead of drawing a
line. Make sure the Pen icon is selected on the Toolbar so the pen is a
writing tool so it doesn't have the little "brackets" available to resize
the columns.

Re: Vertical blank columns

I'm having trouble reproducing this, Grant. Are you tapping on the screen
before starting to draw the line? Are you in the left column, or on the
writing area to the right of the vertical line? What is your setting in the
Page Width box on the Toolbar?

Re: Vertical blank columns

Chris, thanks for your help.

I am simply trying to draw diagrams on a blank screen and
do not tap on screen. There are no columns but strictly
a blank page [apparently]. The page width is set
to "page width." There are no vertical lines but
vertical blank spaces at times when I try to draw
horizontally. Sometimes 2 vertical blank spaces occur
and at other times a single blank space running from the
top of the screen to the bottom. I cannot draw in those
blank spaces.

Very strange, Grant. I still cannot make it do that. Still trying, though.
What driver are you using for your pen? Are you using the latest Wacom
driver from here: www.wacom.com/tabletpc ?

RE: Vertical blank columns

Grant & Chris;

I own a Toshiba 3500 and have had the same problem described. I have sent
the machine back to Toshiba 3x for the same problem. They replaced the
digitizer each time. The problem, while intermittent, persists.

Chris, the columns Grant describes are vertical areas (I’m guessing about an
inch wide) of the LCD that will not accept digital ink (or any signal) from
the pen. The mouse or touch pad works fine across these areas.

In my most recent case, I noticed the “dead zones during a presentation and
called Toshiba on the spot. In doing so, I had to turn the machine over to
read the serial # and closed the tablet sending it into hibernation. Upon
opening it, the “dead zones were no longer apparent. Problem is there is no
predicting when it will happen again. As of yet, Toshiba refuses to replace
the machine and I have a shipping box ready to go and send it in AGAIN.

So, there is no wonder Chris that you cannot reproduce the problem as I
suspect it is a hardware issue and Toshiba tells me that my problem is
isolated. I see it is not. Actually, I posted this same issue in the past.

I would love to know the outcome of this.

Tablets rule…..but so do three year warrantees.

Drew

Re: Vertical blank columns

8-) Thanks for the information. I believe Toshiba has had issues with
digitizers on that model (I've got an M200) and you're probably right in
recommending to contact the manufacturer.

RE: Vertical blank columns

I've been having this same problem as Drew for the past 3 months. Got the
thing serviced for the left side of the screen, now the right side has a one
inch vertical dead zone. What is everyone doing to solve this problem?
