| Portege3500 + Memory No Performance Increase Kind of strange. 256 is on the board, I added 256 then decided to upgrade to 512. I took out the 256 then installed the 512. I actually experienced a slower machine. Anbody have any insight. Naturally I'm returning the stick, perhaps it's defective? |

What exactly are you using for your "baseline" measurement? Not everything gets faster - you may be looking at something that won't be impacted by the memory increase? -- John |

| Re: Portege3500 + Memory No Performance Increase Have you run Defrag on the machine since upgrading? If you've also installed the XP SP2 and the Tablet PC Edition 2005, there are a whole lot of changes. You might also be running into an accumulation of parasites and Trojans from simple browsing on the Internet. You may wish to look through some of the information here: www.aumha.org/secure. -- Chris H. The performance bottleneck isn't the memory. It "must" be the CPU, with its defective power saving switch related technology. I have a Dynabook SS 3500, a Japanese version of the "same" thing. The CPU runs no faster than 323mhz, but feels even slower. I don't know how to makes it run faster. My thin Sharp Actius Pentium2 300mhz laptop runs faster than this Toshiba that claims to be a 1.33 Ghz machine. Toshiba 3500 tablet PC users need to find enough users with similar problem to demand a refund from Toshiba. |
