If you have a switch, I would turn that off, then make sure you have no items in "bridge" mode in Network Connections/Properties of your LAN. Could also be a faulty cable. -- Chris H. | Re: Compaq Tablet Pc In Device Manager, what is the condition of the non-wireless Network adapter? Even if it doesn't show as an error, you may want to reinstall the Ethernet device. | Re: Compaq Tablet Pc Okay, I had a nap so I've got a different idea. Go to the Command Prompt and put in "ipconfig" without the quotes and see what it returns. If it returns a 169.x.x.x address, and not your LAN address we've got a different issue. If that happens, do "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew" and see what it gives you. If it fails, still giving you the wrong IP, shut down your router/base station and then re-supply the power to it after about three minutes. The DHCP probably isn't issuing a proper LAN-oriented IP. -- Chris H.
