Monkeyboy is on a distinguished road
Adware+New Tablet=Bad News Please Help!!!

I have a brand new (3 months old) Gateway Tablet PC. It was running absolutely great at the beginning, and then it started running slowly. I regularly use Lavasoft's Ad-aware, and run a scan check from Norton every week. But there is still something or things on my computer that are messing me up. I have run CWShredder and hijack this. I have saved my log for Hijack this...

Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.0

Re: Adware+New Tablet=Bad News Please Help!!!

I'm absolutely no expert on these things, but it looks like you could use
the information here: http://www.aumha.org/secure.htm After you read
through the information, also check out the Security forms here:
http://forum.aumha.org/ There are plenty of very good people to advise you.

I would be doing two things if I had your system: (1) Running the latest
AdAware definitions against the system in Safe Mode (boot using F8), and (2)
Uninstall the current AV and download something like the free AVG from
www.grisoft.com and use that also in Safe Mode. AVG is much less invasive
than your current AV, which could be accounting for some of the slowdown all
by itself.

YES, lose(uninstall) all vestiges of Symantec and use AVG.

Re: Adware+New Tablet=Bad News Please Help!!!

Is your comment relative to Symantec in general or specific to known issues
with Gateway tablets and Symantec?

I have three Gateway M275 tablets giving me fits with dropping off the
network, although I can't imagine a relationship between Symantec NAV and
that.

Re: Adware+New Tablet=Bad News Please Help!!!

My experience, and those of friends is not related to any specific Tablet PC
or other computer - just computers in general. Have you checked the systems
like I suggested with the URL? Have you checked the basic LAN settings, for
instance to make sure you're not invoking 802.1x authentication if WPA
encryption is not being used on the router?
