| Re: tablet pc on endless loop Try taking a look at this Microsoft Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314466/en-us I'm not clear from what you're saying whether you're able to boot into Safe Mode, but there are some additional links to other KB articles at the bottom of the URL above. -- Chris H. | Re: tablet pc on endless loop Thank you Chris for your help. I will check out that article. In response to your question : It doesn't matter which secection I make, be it 'safe mode' , 'start normally', etc, the selection, which ever one it is, causes the reboot loop that begins with the Compaq logo, then the Windows tablet pc logo and some action there, a blue screen that is up for a second, and I cannot stop the screen to read what it says, then the screen that windows did not open normally and the various choices, any of which when selected will restart the loop. I appreciate your interest. | Re: tablet pc on endless loop Well, if you can't get into Safe Mode you're probably looking at reinstalling. I don't remember if Compaq furnishes an in-place "repair" install on their recovery media or not, but you might want to check the information on their web site about the options. It really sounds like a corrupt driver is causing the restarting. -- Chris H. I don't remember if Compaq furnishes an in-place > "repair" install on their recovery media or not, FWIW: The COMPAQ/HP CD-set holds the normal XP install plus the [COMPONENTS] on the second CD. So it allows for a "Repair" install as does ever "normal" XP CD. I doubt, however, that this might help in the situation given/explained. Rainald |
