| SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines Can someone point me to a solution? I describe my problem as follows: 1) I bring up the TIP and write two full lines (it expands as it should) of text. Example: The quick brown fox jumps over. 2) The text is recognized exactly correct within the TIP in the little editing bubbles below the handwriting. The quick brown fox jumps over. 3) I press the Insert button, and the end of line words are pushed together giving me: The quick brownfox jumps over. (Notice no space between brown and fox). I showed this problem to a few people at the SF tablet group and they agreed there was a problem but didn't have a solution. I have a Fujitsu 4110 with SP2 installed. I loved the new TIP, especially the way it grows and add lines as you approach the end of a line, and the way you can edit the words in place before you press insert. It all worked fine for me, and then, it didn't and doesn't anymore ;-( I've no idea what changed (But I left the tablet with my dad for a day, I suspect he pressed something he shouldn't have). -Patrick |

| Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines You need to manually insert a space, Patrick. So many people complained about a trailing space in the first version, that Microsoft removed it because it gave a sentence like: The quick brown fox jumps over . It is fairly easy to tap the space bar on the right panel of the TIP when you need the space instead of attempting to remove the extra one. -- Chris H. | Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines Thanks, but I think my poor description misled you. There is only ONE press of the Insert button in my scenario, not two presses. In my post, I mean I write "The quick brown" and then the TIP adds more writing space and I write "fox jumps over" THEN I press "Insert". The "Space" button is not visible after I begin writing, so there's no way to press it between "brown" and "fox". The only way to use space to address my problem would be to go back and select the point between brown^fox, press the space, and then select the end again to continue writing. I know it didn't use to have this problem, and I showed it to other SP2 tablet users, they don't have this problem either. | Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines I understood, Patrick. When you write a line and come to the end of the line, tap the Space button on the right side of the TIP. Actually I had not noticed the change even when writing up to the edge, but I give each word plenty of space in-between. | Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines Thanks Chris, I appreciate the help. The interesting thing is that it recognizes correctly as two words within the TIP, as evidenced by two separate word bubbles for "brown" and "fox", one on each line. The problem occurs when I press Insert. I have tried leaving the maximum amount of free space at the end of the line (start writing on the next line just as soon as it appears, usually an inch or more) but it doesn't help. The other interesting thing is that the Space button (and all the other blue quick keys) on the left disappears just as soon as I start writing, so I really can't tap it, it's not there. It really is a bugger of a problem, and I find most people don't believe it until they see it with their own eyes. And Googling doesn't help, it appears to haunt only my tablet. | Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines It takes a little practice. 8-) But how are you seeing buttons on the left may I ask? Only the Insert button will move to the left. Are you perhaps in the Character Pad instead of the Writing Pad? Though those buttons would also be on the right of the TIP. -- Chris H. | Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines I don't know what the solution is, but that is not the way my SP2 TIP behaves. So I would imagine it's a misconfiguration or a bug. | Re: SP2 TIP won't insert spaces between lines And you're correct, too. 8-) DUHme here. (Pronounced exactly like "dummy".) When you're writing the buttons will disappear, however you can correct such behavior by putting a space in (reopening the TIP) if it appears incorrectly. Just as you can highlight a word and change it after you've converted to text. Just drag with the pen across a word, or tap with the tap where you'd like to insert a space, and the floating TIP icon will give you the full TIP for correction. -- Chris H.
