I understand even with the Tablet PC 2005 (XP SP2), there
is no program to train the recognizer the peculiarities
of a person's handwriting. Does anyone know if one is the
offing or if any third party vendor is bringing something
out?

Suvro.

Haven't heard of anything in the offing, but there are several hundred
thousand samples of handwriting within the built-in recognizer. Plus you
can add to your dictionary as you go along so certain words are known to
mean certain text conversions.
