| Re: Digitizer not working? Chris, I agree with you. I haved no intention of trying to fix it myself. I have simply tried to press on the screen in the effected area and the corners of the screen to get the pen to work in the bad area for a while. My unit must have been opened for repairs by whomever bought it originally and then they returned it. Hence, it was considered an open item when I bought it. I noticed the paint missing a little and a stress to the plastic in the bottom left corner of the main unit. It was also cracked in the corner, in which case, the plastic has now broken off in that corner (it may have even been dropped by the first buyer). BTW: I wasn't asking for any help solving hardware issues, I was simply responding to Michelle's question about anyone else with a Toshiba having digitizer problems. I still would like to know if there are any studies on the lifetimes of the digitizer screens in Tablet PCs. Thanks, Jim From: "Chris H." <winxpnews********.com> Subject: Re: Digitizer not working? Date: Monday, September 20, 2004 9:54 AM Jim, a hardware issue isn't one we can solve in this newsgroup. I know it has been reported that if you firmly but carefully press on the corners of the screen, that "may" help. However, I think you should contact Toshiba immediately and report your issues so they can deal with it under warranty. If you were to break the machine attempting to fix it yourself, they would rightfully be able to tell you they can't help. -- Chris H. | Re: Digitizer not working? I have to smile about the lifetimes for the digitizers, Jim, because Tablets have been on the market less than two years at this point. There really isn't much history behind them, however I can say the basic companies which supply the hardware for all Tablets are a handful of the most experienced screen producers in the world. I'm sure they've done major testing before putting the products out. Even though it seems you have a "second hand" Tablet, I would still suggest following up through Toshiba to find out where the local repair center is located. In my case, it is a smallish company which contracts various manufacturers to do work locally, and you may run into the same situation I did where the folks will be of vast assistance. With my M200, it apparently realized it was going on a 90-minute ride for repair and decided to straighten up rather than facing surgery. 8-) -- Chris H.
