| New universal car mounting solution for tablet PC, UMPC, and netbook In the past, RAM only made few UMPC and Tablet PC mounts for very few specific models, but the new Tough Tray II is a universal cradle able to accommodate any tablet/UMPC/netbook. I made a brief write up on the topic, and I plan on adding a few more pictures in a few days. | Re: New universal car mounting solution for tablet PC, UMPC, andnetbook fwiw, the first thought that comes to mind is that the design fails to take cooling needs into consideration. The next question would be if it allows portrait orientation... seems to be somewhat laptop centric from the images. Beverly Howard |

Hmm, this never crossed my mind. I've used RAM products for a couple of years now, and I think I haven't suffered cooling problems (or at least I think I haven't). > The next question would be if it allows portrait orientation... > seems to be somewhat laptop centric from the images. You can orient the tray any way you like. The following demo shows it in horisontal, as well as vertical orientation: http://www.ram-mount.com/flash3/2346b.swf -- Marvin Hlavac Laptop GPS World www.laptopgpsworld.com |

| Re: New universal car mounting solution for tablet PC, UMPC, andnetbook thanks for the responses... assume that if the base is alum, you could use a drill to better perforate the bottom to match the vents on the tablet. This came up with a surplus "motioncomputing" tablet case I took a chance on... when I started looking at it, realized the fuji would overheat in short order since there were no openings on the bottom. This depends on the way the outlets for the fan are positioned. On my HP tc1100 they are at the side, so this would not be a problem. Rainald |

The design is quite different but AFAICS as mostly with HP laptops air from underneath seems no requirement. Rainald |

Really bad design, IMHO. How does one work with a piece of hardware like that if it has to be elevated from the desk it's been placed on?? Rainald |
