| enabling Touch Screen I use HP Pavilion tx1000 Tablet PC, with Vista Home premium. I disabled the touch screen a year back in control panel (not sure where exactly) Now i want to enable it again. I have already: 1. reinstalled the OS 2. reinstalled and updated the Video drivers 3. Checked Administrator Tools\services\Tablet PC Input Services - (it is "automatic" and "started") 4. Checked device manager - (there are no hardware with red or yellow icons) 5. Spoke to HP service center a couple of times, but they want me to visit their center. the nearest service center is not in my city and they work in weekdays only. Can someone help me? is it possible to attach screenshots in this forum? |

You can either go into the services, or start/run and type in MSCONFIG If you use msconfig, go to the services tab and look for the one you listed, if it is a service, it will be unchecked. Put a checkbox in it and reboot. If you go into services directly, you can right click the MY COMPUTER icon, select manage. On left side, go to "services and applications" and expand it, click on services, and on the right side look for the service you showed disabled. You can right click and select Properties or just double click it, and change the startup type to Automatic. Apply, then you can either reboot or click START. I'd reboot since it may need to be initialized at the startup of the PC to work properly. -- John |

| Re: enabling Touch Screen After my post, took a quick look at device manager, services and msconfig and could not find anything other than an entry in the HID section that did not spell anything the way you posted it plus it offered no disable options. Would recommend a search of the registry for "wacompen" which might yield something to point to where that term is used. On my tablet, it is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\E ventlog\System and a number of keys below that, but I did not see anything obvious in the services interface.
