Personally I use Acronis, but a quick Google for partition manager turns up lots of options. You will probably need to Back up the whole system to an external device (Both partitions) Delete the second partition Expand the system partition Recreate the second partition (smaller) Restore your data to the second partition. -- Invalid |

I'm now using Acronis "Disk Director".[1] Before that I had "Partition Magic" (Symantec) but there is no version for Vista. Another popular product is Paragon "Hard Disk Manager". [3] > You will probably need to > > Back up the whole system to an external device (Both partitions) This should be done in any any case for having a possibility of restoring in case something goes wrong. > Delete the second partition > Expand the system partition > Recreate the second partition (smaller) > Restore your data to the second partition. With all three products it can be done ways easier by just changing the size. Rainald *--- [1] http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing.../diskdirector/ [2] http://www.symantec.com/norton/partitionmagic [3] http://www.paragon-software.com/ For no. 1 and 3 there are free trial versions available for download |

You can and you *should*. Backup the system prior to updating. First apply SP2, then SP3. Rainald P.S. Obviously you posted this as a reply to an existing thread with a totally different subject. In the future pls make sure to open a new thread |

| Re: Change size hard disk partition You need not to backup the files to other drive and delete the partition, just shrink other partitions and expand the os partition with the unallocated space. But backup file first is a good habit. Besides the tools Rainald Taesler mentioned, I recommend easeus partition master, free for home users, but it has the same functions. there is detail instructions. how to change partition size |

| Re: Change size hard disk partition Sorry, what might this posting be referring to?? At least in the UI of a NewsReader (WinMail) this posting is without any referral. It's just "stand-alone". So I can not say anything on the proposals {siiiigh}.
