I miss outlook Express.

Never had this problem before. my P1620 has Vista Business. I have a few
hotmail accounts that-in the past I was able to check with Outlook Express.
So like I have done in the past, but Succeeded, I "tried" to install,
windows live Mail.so I didn't have to go to the web to check. It downloaded
fine, but would not install. The error Doesn't tell you why- it just gives
you a link to "check this" sort of help. I didn't find any help there _
tried Over and over. Decided," Install SP-I "maybe that will help! It
didn't. I just made a bigger mess of things. Has anyone had this problem?
The live Mail problem. Or do I need to contract Fujitsu? Couldn't Install
Live messenger either.

Re: I miss outlook Express.

The biggest problem with OE was that it "was there" and managed to
become a standard despite the terrible software it is exposed to be when
anyone finally uses a decent email and newsreader client. (Personally,
I think live mail is working to take over OE's job at just being bad ;-)

You will probably get a lot of input on alternatives, but I have been
using the netscape email/newsreader solutions for over a decade and they
are flat great and powerful for both email and newsgroups.

The best way to get and install them at the moment is to download and
install the "full" version of SeaMonkey
<http://www.seamonkey-project.org/> This will include the Mozilla
browser, email client, newsreader client and web page creator editor.

I have some tips on exploiting the newsreader which makes newsgroups
simple and easy at http://bevhoward.com/moz.htm#News

Hope this helps,

Are you saying I can read my hotmail with that program ? I mostly get spam
at my hotmail accounts, but still have subscriptions - confirmations etc at
my hotmail accounts and at least with Windows Live Mail I cant see those 4
email accounts in one program rather than log into hotmail 4 times.

I actually like Windows Mail [not live mail] a lot - too bad I cant check
hotmail accounts with it .. Just Microsoft being difficult [or something]

I'm not a hotmail person, so can't answer that other than to say that if
hotmail has a pop3 or imap pickup option, the answer would be yes.

Only the Hotmail subscribers can check their e-mail on the non-Live client,
by using POP3 at the moment. However, next year Microsoft will be
re-introducing POP3 access for all Hotmail users again.

I was grandfathered in -- I can still check my hotmail with Outlook
Express. But if I had OE on a new computer, I don't know if I could do
it -- maybe just the computers that are already checking -- Actually, that
would be this one, my desktop and my desktop at work. My others are Vista
and I don't have OE.

Something else .. does anyone know why I would not be able to install
Windows Live email or messenger on a new vista laptop ?? Could I start the
download, the install files download, then I get an error "can't install."
This has happened with my Fujitsu tablet and an office friend just got a
Toshiba laptop for Xmas, it won't install on hers either. Would it have
anything to do with Turning off the Firewall or ??
