TC1100: screen orientation no longer changeable

Hello, Group -

I installed "some software" (e.g. Windows Update, some HP patches, Office
XP) on my TC1100. "Suddenly" (I don't remember exactly if it happened with
the next boot or later) I was unable to change the screen orientation to
portrait.

So I'm only able to use landscape format; a click on the
orientation-change-button brings up an error message box like "setting not
availabe, please use display - properties and try again".

I have the latest graphics driver by HP. But I remember, the resolution was
changeable between 1024x768 and 768x1024 before.

Is it necessary to install a special screen/display driver? Screen is shown
as "plug and play screen" (I use a german version, so I don't know the
english messages).

Thank you for any help (I really would like to use portrait orientation
again!),

best regards,

Peter

Re: TC1100: screen orientation no longer changeable

Hopefully, you have System Restore running and can use a Restore Point prior
to when you did the updates. I would not use drivers off Windows Update,
because they may not be specific to your Tablet. Try reverting back, prior
to the "updates" and see if that will correct the situation. Otherwise, I
would go with the Active Chat offered by Compaq/HP here:
http://isupport4.hp.com/awebui/jsp/F...srchcode=10001
You need to enter your Product Number and Serial Number on the page.

BTW - Are you running the original Tablet PC Edition or Windows XP SP2 with
Tablet PC Edition 2005?

Re: TC1100: screen orientation no longer changeable

Hi -

thanks for you fast answer.

I am using the specific driver from HP's website, latest version and tried
also previous version without success.

Ran WXP Tablet until today, updated to SP2 this afternoon - nothing changed,
only landscape with the described effect :-(.

I should try HP active chat, thanks again -

P.

Re: TC1100: screen orientation no longer changeable

Hopefully they'll be able to assist you, Peter. I don't have your model
Tablet here, so I'm unsure of the exact steps. It should be a simple
solution of getting the right drivers or program reinstalled. Please let us
know of the resolution.
