| lost tablet driver after unstall SP2 Hi Chris, I did install the SP2 but the handwritten recognition is getting worst after installing SP2. I uninstalled the SP2 from add/remove of the control panel. Now, everytime I reboot my computer I got the the message: " A tablet was not detected and preference file was not found. To locate a tablet and establised preferences, please indicate what type of interface your tablet has: serial or USB." I try both serial and USB, but none is working. What Should I do now??? Thanks, /CC |

| Re: lost tablet driver after unstall SP2 Charlie, I'd suggest you post only here instead of in the developer newsgroup also. This isn't a developer issue. You've probably made so many "adjustments" on your system that it is totally confused now. 8-) Are you on a Tablet PC, and which one? Were you running a Wacom writing pad with your system? It seems that is what it is referencing when it is looking for a "tablet" connection. I would give the XP Service Pack 2 another clean installation, making sure you have everything closed, shut down and not running - that includes your anti-virus program (uninstall if you need to, because not all AV programs close when you "exit" them from a Systray icon), any third-party screensaver programs you may be running (including disabling the Power Options in Control Panel to Turn off monitor) so nothing can interfere with the installation. -- Chris H. What you got I've seen happen when someone installs the "normal" digitizer driver for a normal wacom tablet, the ones that aren't tablet PC's. It's looking for an external tablet, not a built-in digitizer. You want the one that's specifically for tablet PC's. -- John |

| RE: lost tablet driver after unstall SP2 Hi Charlie, It sounds like the driver component for the Penabled Driver package was removed. So the service is unable to find it and pops up that prompt. To fix this: Go into the services control panel and set TabletService to disabled Then uninstall the Wacom Penabled driver Then reinstall it. You can get it from: http://www.wacom.com/tabletpc/driver.cfm "CharlieChau" wrote: > > Hi Chris, > > I did install the SP2 but the handwritten recognition is getting worst > after installing SP2. | Re: lost tablet driver after unstall SP2 On one of my tablets, I had to go in after the fact, and re-install the Wacom drivers. Just would NOT see the pen, at all. No big deal, I plugged in a USB keyboard, logged in, and ran the driver install. Needless to say, I'd downloaded the driver before I started the upgrade. :) -- Charlie.
