| XP Performance and SSD I have a new Dell Latitude XT tablet with a 64GB Solid State Disk Drive. I am running XP on it. Performance is abysmal. The machine hangs for long periods of time. It appears that the hangs are associated with read/writes to the disk. The disk light comes on absolutely steady during these hangs of the machine. The hangs can be very long, over half a minute at times. There is some talk about this in postings on the internet, notably around Outlook 2007. I am running Outlook 2003 and I see the problem even with simple (non Outlook) tasks. Has anyone else seen it and do you have a solution? |

| Re: XP Performance and SSD >> running XP on it << please confirm that it is xp tablet edition From casual observations since the large ssd's have come on the market, there seem to be serious problems using them as primary hard drives. I have followed three SSD cases and all have had problems on one sort or another. Suggest Dell tech support as your primary option... assume you are in the return period, so, you have leverage... don't let them send you a refurb if you return it. | Re: XP Performance and SSD First I have heard of this tablet... http://www.dell.com/tablet ....displaying a black computer on a black background... brilliant, really brilliant ...if you want to make sure people can't get any impression of the size and functionality ;-/ Beverly Howard [Microsoft MVP-Mobile Devices] |

| Re: XP Performance and SSD Yes - running "Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Version 2002 Service Pack 3" Yes, it is in a return window and that is the current plan for it unless a miracle arrives in the next day or two. I've been actively trying to resolve issue with Dell with no luck so far. I have numerous posting out on the Dell Community pages as there. This is the current (and very major) issue but have had several others. Thank you.
