Tablet Back-up Disc

I tried installing sp3 on my legit tablet and encountered a problem - an
error in updating occurred which resulted in the system prompting me to allow
an un-install. After this uninstall finished, I got an error indicating that
some files couldn't be removed which may affect the function of some services
and click to reboot. I rebooted (to hopefully use system restore) and now
can't log into windows. I get the windows logon screen, a brief flash of an
error (assuming) message on a blue screen and the system will keep rebooting
itself. I can't get into safe mode either and don't have a back-up disc as I
bought the tablet used online. Do I really have to pay MS $60 to tell me that
I have to fork out more $$ for a back-up disc (if I can get one).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Wanna buy a cheap (laptop) doorstop??

Really bad situation.

It's not a question of the price, you will just be unable to get a CD
with XP TabletPC edition form MS. This version of the XP OS was never
sold nor distributed to clients by MS.

Your only chance would be to ask the computer's manufacturer (you did
not tell us who it was) for OS CDs.

Rainald
P.S. You might try to use the repair mode from an ordinary XP CD.
P.P.S. There have been reports on mixed success of using an ordinary XP
SP2 CD for installing the TabletPC OS (which is included on that) with
the key on the sticker of the computer. Pls go through the respective
threads in this newsgroup.

RE: Tablet Back-up Disc

hey jasvid!

once i ran into the same problem with my fujitsu tablet t4010. it is true
that tablet pc installation cd's are not sold like this as Rainald wrote. But
there is definitely another solution for your problem.

do you know MSDNAA (microsoft msdn academic alliance)? it is a platform for
enrolled students, some kind of worldwide project between microsoft and the
universities. once enrolled to that platform, you are able to download the
tablet pc component cd as well as plenty of other m$-software. you also get a
free non-expiring evaluation key for it.

as for me - i downloaded the tablet pc components (cd2) and installed it
without running into any problems.

this would be the link to the download center (need to enroll first) i got
from my university:
http://msdn40.e-academy.com/elms/Sto...us=ethz_depart

so if you are not a student ask some student you know enrolling for you and
he'll be able to download it for you...
