Re: SP2 Release

Per Andrew's post earlier today, Josh, that's not a legitimate download
site.

Re: SP2 Release

Additionally, there is a network install version already up on TechNet for IT
Professionals, but it is specifically for updating multiple computers over
the network. Not appropriate for a single machine.

Re: SP2 Release

I'm not 100% sure but I believe Lora told me she obtained permission from
MS.

The link Josh provided is a direct download link to Microsoft's web site.
SP2 is not being hosted on the site. Linking to the Microsoft official
download is accepted use. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

RE: SP2 Release

So with the link Josh provided can it be used to update my tablet pc, is it
the SP2 I want, or is there a difference between the single and multiple one?

Re: SP2 Release

It's a bigger download than the one that will be released via Windows Update
because it includes all software/hardware configurations. But if you need it
now, it's what's out there. The net result will be the same.

Re: SP2 Release

Hi, Brandon,

Yes, it has Windows XP SP2 as well as the add-ons necessary for a Tablet PC or a Media Center. What is installed depends on what is currently installed.

The direct download link from Microsoft is

Re: SP2 Release

The difference is, the IT download from Microsoft (which that sites just
links to) is the full-boat, everything included version - pushing 270 MB in
size. If you just want your single system updated, I'd recommend waiting
for Windows Update to kick in so you're probably looking at less than 100
MB. Otherwise, get it directly from Microsoft's site as linked in Terri's
follow-up post.
