| Re: enabling wireless card What Tablet PC are you on, and does it have a "switch" or toggle button? Is wireless showing as enabled or disabled in Device Manager? -- Chris H. | Re: enabling wireless card My tablet is a Motion Computing M1200 purchased thru Gateway. The device manager shows the wireless card working properly and enabled. I even receive a signal show good strength @ 11 Mb. I don't think there is any kind of toggle switch or button. | Re: enabling wireless card When you were in Network Connections, did you see several icons for networking including any description of "bridged"? If so, the devices other than your wireless networking should be right-clicked, unbridged and then disabled. These items may include the dial-up modem, 1394 Net Adapter, MAC Bridge Miniport and the built-in Ethernet NIC. Once these are removed from possible bridge condition (see below), you should be able to administer the wireless. I would also suggest going into My Computer (right-click, Properties) and on the Hardware tab, tap the button for Device Manager. Find the Network adapters listing and tap the "+" sign to expand the listing. You should see four items in there, including 1394 Net Adapter, Intel wireless, MAC Bridge Miniport and the Realtec Ethernet NIC. Only the Wireless, from your description, needs to be enabled. The rest you can right-click and select Disable from the menu. This doesn't remove them from the system, only stops them from interfering with the wireless. Then try these steps: 1 - Tap Start, then Control Panel. 2 - Tap Network and Internet Connections. 3 - Tap Network Connections. 4 - Right-click on Wireless Network Connections. 5 - Tap Disable. 6 - Right-click on Wireless Network Connections. 7 - Tap Enable. 8 - Close Control Panel. If this still doesn't correct the situation, I would suggest you call Motion Computing's support section, 866-322-9783, in the U.S. and Canada. -- Chris H.
