| Averatec C3500 I recently stumbled upon a new tablet PC today at Costco called the Averatec C3500. Does anyone know anything about this computer company? The tablet seems to be fully loaded and has the best screen that I have seen to date. And the clincher is that its only $1279 comes with an AMD XP-M. Does anyone have one or know anything about the qulity of the product this company makes? --tony |

| Re: Averatec C3500 Hi, The Averatec C3500 is the very first Tablet PC they have sold. Further this is the first Tablet PC that uses the AMD 64 bit processor. So this product represents a couple of firsts for Averatec. -- Chris De Herrera http://www.cewindows.net http://www.tabletpctalk.com http://www.pocketpctalk.com "Microsoft" <ajdata@pacbell.net> wrote in message news:ur4TCyScEHA.2660@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... >I recently stumbled upon a new tablet PC today at Costco called the >Averatec > C3500. | Re: Averatec C3500 It's a good entry point Tablet PC. It will probably be fairly popular with students who don't want to pay the higher price of other Tabet PCs, yet want the capability of a Tablet. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Windows MVP / Tablet PC http://thetabletpc.net Expert Zone - http://microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/default.asp "Microsoft" <ajdata@pacbell.net> wrote in message news:ur4TCyScEHA.2660@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... >I recently stumbled upon a new tablet PC today at Costco called the >Averatec > C3500. The AMD-64 processor is a good processor, but I don't know if the mobile version is as good as a Dothan centrino - especially when speaking about battery life time. Are the 3 hours mentioned in the named article the real batterly life or the one from the marketing department? :-) Regards -- Thomas Wenzl [MVP for Live Communications Server] Share what you know, learn what you don't! | Re: Averatec C3500 Hi, When I contacted sales, they told me 4 hours. So it seems like there's some discrepancy between the battery life they cite. -- Chris De Herrera http://www.cewindows.net http://www.tabletpctalk.com http://www.pocketpctalk.com "Thomas Wenzl [MVP]" <twenzl@web.de> wrote in message news:2mimm4Fn35scU1@uni-berlin.de... > terri wrote: > > It's a good entry point Tablet PC. | Re: Averatec C3500 It is nice to be able to talk with someone live regarding "how" the battery claim was established. If there is a whole lot of hardware (wireless, infrared, USB devices, etc.) being powered while on the battery, there is no way such extended hours can happen. -- Chris H. The battery life for for note-taking, etc. would be interested. I'm sure we all know that using wireless technologies or USB powered devices decrease the battery life time. > The representative volunteered 3 hours while I was on the phone > with him. Seems that 3 hours are quite realistic. 3 hours would be ok for that machine. There are some centrino machines that don't achieve a longer battery life, too. I guess, you could add a second battery, if you require a much longer battery life. Regards -- Thomas Wenzl [MVP for Live Communications Server] Share what you know, learn what you don't! | Re: Averatec C3500 I get around 3.5 on my Acer (301) with wireless and disk activitiy. My husband has a regular laptop with an AMD chip similar to the one in the Avertec and he gets about the same amount of time with wireless enabled on it. So I would expect the 3 hours to be pretty accurate. -- Cheryl D. Wise MS FrontPage MVP http://wiserways.com |
