Tablet PC and sigjatures

I just need a Tablet PC to put forms on with check boxes and a place to put a
signature. I don't want to spend a thousand dollars to do this. What is out
there for this?

Thank you.

RE: Tablet PC and sigjatures

There is a program called Active Ink Software that creates inkable forms that
will allow you to capture signatures. Go to http://www.activeinksoftware.com

Re: Tablet PC and sigjatures

ActiveInk Software is a good solution, however, the legalities of the
security of the signature and validity to the point of holding up in a court
of law vary from state-to-state and jurisdiction-to-jurisdiction, so I would
be extremely careful in collecting the data. Inspect the requirements of
the end-use first, and then determine what software/storage/verification
processes you may need before investing in the software.

RE: Tablet PC and sigjatures

What type of computer can be used with this software? I am looking for
something that can be mobile. I would also assume that the touch screen would
already have to be installed.

Re: Tablet PC and sigjatures

Actually, most states do accept signatures entered on a tablet PC. This was
more of an issue about five years ago when tablet PCs were first introduced
and local and state governments were unfamiliar with the technology.

Re: Tablet PC and signatures

Thank you. But, what about the hardware? Assume I am from another planet and
tell me what to do from the start.

Thank you.

Re: Tablet PC and signatures

>> what about the hardware? <<

It's obvious that you will need some "pen aware" hardware device to
capture the signature.

Since you posted here (a tabletpc forum) and specifically mentioned
"Tablet PC" in your original post, we would assume you plan to use one
of the available "tablet pc's" with a touch sensitive screen which
allows drawing and writing directly on the screen.

The responses have pointed you to software which will run on any of the
pen input tablet pc's or "slates"

There are a few other options such as dedicated devices such as those
used by ups and fedex, input pads and pocketpc's, but to be more
specific, you need to provide some more info about your plans, needs and
limits.

Re: Tablet PC and signatures

I am assuming a Tablet PC is a laptop computer. That is what I am seeing on
the internet. So, if you use a Tablet PC, with touch screen, do you still
need the addtional software, or, are there PC's that allow for the signature
input?

Thank you.

Re: Tablet PC and signatures

Tablet PC's are normally laptop sized computers with the screen mount
designed to allow the laptop screen to be "closed" with the screen
facing outward so that the screen functions as a "writing tablet"
allowing the computer to be used without access to the keyboard.

See
<http://www.fujitsupc.com/images/notebooks/t4220_photogal/t_4220_hand_usingtablet2.jpg>

more pictures of the same computer at
<http://store.shopfujitsu.com/ca/EcomCA/pagerender.do?conpg=products\notebooks\photo_gal\g al_t4220>

with pricing info at
<http://store.shopfujitsu.com/ca/EcomCA/buildseriesbean.do?series=T4220>

There's also a "slate" computer (no keyboard, smaller, lighter) at
<http://store.shopfujitsu.com/ca/EcomCA/buildseriesbean.do?series=ST5112>

and a much smaller convertable tablet at
<http://store.shopfujitsu.com/ca/EcomCA/buildseriesbean.do?series=P1620>

HP and several other oems also provide tablet and slate computers...
fuji is what I have and am familiar with.

Hope this helps.

Re: Tablet PC and signatures

>> if you use a Tablet PC, with touch screen, do you still
need the addtional software <<

Assuming you want to be able to save and print out custom "forms"
containing the desired signature, yes...

there are apps such as Windows Journal pre-installed on table pc's, but
they essentially just provide blank sheets of paper to write and draw on
to save and/or print.

Re: Tablet PC and signatures

That's pretty clear. Thanks for all your help.
