| SP3: Change Screen Orientation Broken (DELL Latitude XT) Hi All, Upgraded my DELL Latitude XT TabletPC to WinXP SP3; pressing the Screen Rotation button or selecting Change Screen Orientation from the Tablet And Pen Settings applet produces the following error: "The setting you requested cannot be supported" Rolling back to pre-SP3 returns the desired functionality. I've also contacted DELL support and posted this on their forum. NOTE: I did a quick Depency Trace and noticed that the Tablet And pen Settings applet (TABBTNU.EXE) is issuing a bad DLL call. Regards, hilaireG |

| RE: SP3: Change Screen Orientation Broken (DELL Latitude XT) Hi All, Quick update; a known issue with Catalyst 8.2 and SP3 ( KB 947309) was initially reported ... looks like the problem is still present in the latest version of the Catalyst driver. Regards, hilaireg |

| RE: SP3: Change Screen Orientation Broken (DELL Latitude XT) Hi everybody I been in contact with dell for a week about this problem . So I just find today a solution The only thing to do is to go to windows update chose a custom update, and choose the optional hardware update for the x1250 graphic card ( 11mb) if you apply the update and restart it works like a charm Enjoy Dechief Raphaël IT netwok manager @ ISB |

| RE: SP3: Change Screen Orientation Broken (DELL Latitude XT) Hi All, Just checked a similar thread I posted on ATI's and DELL's websites. I received a response on both forums: Catalyst 8.5 addresses the screen rotation issue I downloaded the release notes for ATI Catalyst 8.5 and the last pages of the release notes indicate that the Screen Rotation issue is resolved. I'll try it on the weekend and confirm that this does indeed solve the problem. | RE: SP3: Change Screen Orientation Broken (DELL Latitude XT) Hi All, Well, I applied the Catalyst 8.5 & Avivo 8.5 to my DELL Latitude XT TabletPC; I can now use the Catalyst Control Center to rotate the display. Unfortunately, pressing the TabletPC Screen Rotation button or selecting the Change Screen Orientation menu option from Tablet And Pen Settings (TABBTNU.EXE) does not function. I continue to get: "The setting you requested cannot be supported" Regards, hilaireg "hilaireg" wrote: > Hi All, > > Just checked a similar thread I posted on ATI's and DELL's websites. | RE: SP3: Change Screen Orientation Broken (DELL Latitude XT) UPDATE, I've just applied the driver from Windows Update (Custom -> Hardware) post-Catalyst 8.5 to determine if that would resolve the issue. It does ... the driver version installed is 8.491.0.0 date 22/04/2008. I located the Windows Update payload (GUUID) and extracted the contents; if an ATI technician is interested, I can arrange to upload the 11MB .ZIP file for further investigation. In the interim, here's a few pertinent details: CX_63867.INF -> DELL CX_63853.INF -> Asus B_63152 -> Driver Folder Regards, hilaireg "Dechief Raphaël" wrote: > Hi everybody > > I been in contact with dell for a week about this problem . > So I just find today a solution > The only thing to do is to go to windows update chose a custom update, and > choose the optional hardware update for the x1250 graphic card ( 11mb) > if you apply the update and restart it works like a charm > > Enjoy > > Dechief Raphaël > IT netwok manager @ ISB > |
