Re: which is better for tablets?

The main differences are that Vista is much better at handwriting
recognition and Vista is still not supplied with good drivers for many uses
such as driving some printers or external monitors. If you are buying a new
computer I'd go for Vista since the hardware is likely to be new enough to
get updated Vista drivers if needed, and companies like HP will eventually
make their printers work properly with Vista, though it is remarkable that
it has been about a year since Vista was released to general users and many
companies have still not gotten their drivers working properly.

Vista has some ridiculous bothers such as User Access Control, which gives
you security dialogs so bothersome and frequent that people click them
without reading them, but this can be turned off.

Re: which is better for tablets?

Windows Vista is better for Tablet PCs bought new.
The handwriting recognition is much better, includes a personalization
aspect, and support for touch input among others.

Tablet bits are built into all versions of Windows Vista excepting Starter
and Home Basic.

RE: which is better for tablets?

Can't say anything (good or bad) about Vista Business but my experience with
XP Tablet PC Edition has been all good. My home PC and office network all use
XP and I've had zero driver or software conflicts. I'm not interested in
waiting for eventual resolutions to potential / eventual conflicts.

The primary requirement I had when I requisitioned my tablet was that it
must run XP for guaranteed compatibility at home, in the office, and on the
road. But if you're already running Vista, it may better suit your needs.
