Num Luck Annoyance TC1000

I had a problem recently with the Num Lock being on at startup. I
hacked registry key that tells machine to de-activate it. Now it
re-activates all the time - it is on at the Logon dialog box and when
i press take num lock off enter login details the num lock comes back
on.
Any ideas, as its big annoyance..!!!

Can't think what app might be causing this either or why.!

Thanks

Re: Num Luck Annoyance TC1000

Have you checked the bios to see if it's set to have it on at boot?

There is no NUM LOCK option within the BIOS.

Re: Num Luck Annoyance TC1000

There is a Keyboard BIOS upgrade available for the TC1000 from HP. Currently at version 19.30. Check the BIOS setup screen for the version you have, under item KBC Version: It may help. You will need a USB Floppy drive to load it, or the docking station with floppy. You may want to check for the system BIOS, and the Transmetta code morfing software update while you are there.

Thanks, Andrew

Re: Num Luck Annoyance TC1000

I believe I now know the reason for the Annoyance.

I use Remote Desktop to sometimes operate the Tablet from a full
102-key keyboard and guess what the Num Lock is always ON with that
keyboard. This must then transfer to the tablet and set the registry
key on the tablet to 'always ON' the Num Lock key at startup. Or at
least if you shutdown the tablet from within Remote desktop the thing
to do is switch off the Num Lock key, as I believe at shutdown
settings are written to registry for unloading profile etc.
