| How to report a TABLET-PC/Powerpoint bug to Microsoft? If you dont know the answer, could anyone tell me *how* I can report this bug to Microsoft officially? Open a new Powerpoint presentation and place an automatically running midi file on the page. When the slide is shown the midi file EXECUTES and programs a midi device (some live audio equipment) SUCCESS! (as one would expect.) Place a SECOND automatically running midi file on the slide When the slide is shown the FIRST midi file executes and programs a midi device The second now FAILS to run on XP or Tablet PC XP! (P.S. I need to use two files because of SYSEX timing reasons) Workaround Custom animation, apply time delay to second midi file starting. ENSURE that first midi has enough time to fully play otherwise PowerPoint IGNORES IT. Problem - Works on XP but not TABLET PC: Two sounds will play on a slide but: if a slide contains TWO sounds and the user clicks to a link with a slide containing two more sounds, the new slide appears and the first sound plays, the second sound on the new slide doesn't execute until the user left clicks. (the slide doesn't change). Clicking again advances to the next slide. Why the extra click? Works fine on XP. |

| Re: How to report a TABLET-PC/Powerpoint bug to Microsoft? >> If you dont know the answer, could anyone tell me *how* I can report this bug to Microsoft officially? << ms is famous for being totally unresponsive to user reported problems, so, I don't have a good answer for you. You might further the possibility that this gets to someone inside the microsoft walls by reposting this on the powerpoint forum as well as checking the help within powerpoint to see if there are any reporting options there. I do note that Hilton Locke who's sig (MSFT) indicates that he/she works for ms has made the only 4 responses which appear to be from within ms in the past month, so, perhaps he/she will respond to this query. Beverly Howard [MS MVP-Mobile Devices] Hilton... if you read this, consider using the more standard [MSFT] in your address as the "()" made you hard to find ;-) |

| Re: How to report a TABLET-PC/Powerpoint bug to Microsoft? In the old days Microsoft was famous for being extremely responsive to bug reports. As the company has grew, it cut off this channel. It was still possible to get around this official absence of a bug report channel by knowing someone on the inside, and responsiveness in this context remained excellent, but today even MVPs say they have no mechanism for reporting bugs. Microsoft was very innovative with the value of support from MVPs, but a company that closes itself off from bug reports will lose its edge very rapidly.
