Problems with last windows updates

Hi,

After applying last security fixes my digitalizer stops working.

Critical
MS08-001 - Vulnerabilities in Windows TCP/IP Could Allow Remote Code
Execution (941644)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS08-001.mspx

Important
MS08-002 - Vulnerability in LSASS Could Allow Local Elevation of Privilege
(943485)
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS08-002.mspx

I had to uninstall the updates and reinstall the Wacom Serial Pen driver to
have my Tablet Pc digitalizer working again. I'm using a Fujitsu Stylistics
but the driver is the standard Wacom driver.

Any ideas? Anybody else with the same problem?

RE: Problems with last windows updates

I can't say that I've had this problem exactly, but somewhere in a batch of
MS updates last month I picked up a bug that seems to have somehow damaged my
power management applidcation. I have a Gateway tablet that uses the windows
(SP sp2) built-in power management tool. I used to routinely punt my machine
in Hibernation when I wasn't using it... now If I try to go to hibernation
more than once or twice I get an error that says there is not sufficient
resources to run the API. That makes no sense, I've got 2GB of ram, and
about 86GB of empty space on my hard drive, so there's no way i'm lacking
resources...

Maybe just a random bug... but your thread caught my eye. Maybe some
others can make some usefull input...

Re: Problems with last windows updates

There have been a number of posts here concerning this over the last
couple of months... seems to hit some, but not all of the tablet models.

The posts included specifics on the updates, so, suggest searching this
forum using google groups
http://groups.google.com/group/micro...pocketpc?hl=en for the
term "update"

There's a XP Hotfix for Hibernation with greater than 1GB RAM that fixed my
exact symptoms.

Re: Problems with last windows updates

Please post your experience and details in the
microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup where the folks who support the
updates will see the information. It would be better getting their expert
advice, since they deal with the situations on a daily basis, and may also
have a solution for you.

Re: Problems with last windows updates

Chris:

I will be adding that group to my list. I appreciate the value of more
direct access to the "source."

Also, BM; thanks for your response. It fixed my problem perfectly.

xxflop: I hope you get the response you need too; keep digging around here
and in the "Updates" group. I've found a lot of fixes by just searchng and
filtering for words and terms that seem related to my problem. Don't give up!

Re: Problems with last windows updates

Scribbling is good. Glad you got it figured out. Now, let me add another
ingredient for you: You can use any news reader - even the lowly Outlook
Express or Windows Mail (or whatever it is called these days) and directly
subscribe to ALL Microsoft's newsgroups with no logon, no sign-in, instead
of using the web-based forum-type approach.

All you need do is set up the Newsgroup section (Tools/Accounts) for the
msnews.microsoft.com server. Once you've done that, you'll be able to
download a complete list of Microsoft's newsgroups and subscribe to any you
wish. Outlook and Windows Mail for newsgroups allows you to filter
newsgroups, track your own messages and, among other things, only view new
messages while hiding those you've already seen so you don't need to wade
through the same messages over and over.
