| Audio software for vista UMPC usb speaker Does anyone know of a program that will let one adjust the Bass and tremble of a usb speaker on a UMPC. I have gone to sound & hareware, the sound properties will not allow the adjustment of the Bass / tremble. I really, need to be able to change these settings. My wife has lost her voice and we use the pc for a text to speech device only but the bass is very deep. Any help will be appericated Chuck |

| Re: Audio software for vista UMPC usb speaker >> text to speech device << Can you post a bit more about how you are achieving this... i.e. are you using xp's native text to speech? The usb aspect also throws a curve in that what comes out of that is going to be driver specific, so, info on the usb speakers you are using would help there as well. | Re: Audio software for vista UMPC usb speaker My Wife, has NextupTalker as a text to speech program (she had her tounge and voice box removed recently) With Neospeech Kate's voice, on her UMPC we are using a Jlab-Flex USB speaker. I have a hearing impairment and what is spoken is sometimes not real clear because of the deep Bass. I have tryed to adjust the sound properties in sound and hardware but there are no adjustments for Bass and Tremble. Try some of the different speaker options in audio setup... for example, a large speaker system might deemphasize the bass/ The voice will have an impact on this... have to believe that there is a high pitch voice model option out there somewhere. | Re: Audio software for vista UMPC usb speaker Beverly, I did contact Jlab, and they said to try winamp, and that's a program for music, she has no music files on the computer, it is for T2S only, They had no other suggestions except to contact Microsoft. Another speaker system is not praticle for they are either USB or Jack "wired", with the Jlab she can close the cover of the laptop bend the speaker over to the top cover and this makes it very mobile for her, and the speaker is still attached, so she can go where ever. Hopefuly you can understand why we need and audio software program. Thank you very much for time and effort! | Re: Audio software for vista UMPC usb speaker I do understand the need, but not able to offer much other than raw theory. Personally, I would probably attack the problem as; Search for a better "voice" ...there seem to be a number of options out there from a cursory google search on text to speech. Perhaps replacing the actual speakers in the usb box with ones that don't have bass capabilities. There is also the option of removing the usb electronics and have them drive a portable speaker which has a manual bass control or incorporating a bass filter into the speaker lines in the usb box. Again, all of these are shots in the dark, but, notice that I don't think you are going to have much luck with the ms controls. As Jlab noted, you do have the option of running the output through "mixer board" types of audio software which you might be able to find in addition to winamp which I wouldn't know how to input to in the first place. | Re: Audio software for vista UMPC usb speaker Chuck: You won't like this answer, but: It has to be built-in to the driver or application. If the setup screens don't show this capability, there's no way to "add it in". Media players can do it because they process the stream as it plays. Your T to S software doesn't apparently have this capability built in.
