| HP TR3000 Hello All Long time lurker...here. To the Tablet PC powers that be... has anyone reviewed or worked with the HP TR3000 tablet pc. I am considering purchasing it. If I had my druthers on this one I would rather purchase the Toshiba M205 tablet pc, but since I am going to be spending the better part of this and next year in a certain desert filled middle eastern country...I was thinking a rugged dust proof tablet pc would be best. I haven't found any reviews online yet, the size is excellent for what I need it for, I don't mind the 8.4in screen, and it is powered to the needs that I have planned for it, mainly using OneNote to capture notes and journaling, email, and music. Yeah the price is much more than a normal tablet pc, but I am betting on the rugged part of it. If anyone has reviewed this device, or has an informed opinion on it please share with me on the newsgroup. Thanks for the help. John Wildes USNR |

| Re: HP TR3000 If you're OK with the screen, then that's the major issue. Of course, there are other ruggedized models, like Panasonic, Walkabout and Xplore with a more standard screen size. You can match specs on my site at http://thetabletpc.net/comparison-rugged.htm -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Windows MVP / Tablet PC http://thetabletpc.net Expert Zone - http://microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/default.asp "John Wildes" <johnwildes.idontlikespam********.com> wrote in message news:eUoUOKzSEHA.3692@TK2MSFTNGP10.phx.gbl... > Hello All > > Long time lurker...here. | TR3000 my use so far I got the tr3000 to use for Astronomy, both to Guide my scope and to run Image Capture software. Overall I like it, but I need more memory than the unit comes with. Everthing I have seen in both advertizing and on retail sites says that it is upgradeable to 640. So I called HP to see how to do it and nobody at HP Customer Support knew anything. I got my unit from CDW and they were unable to take it back because I had started installing software on the unit before I realized that HP did not know how to upgrade the memory of a unit they make. Anyway I found some software that will run on the memory that came with the unit ( cost me another $ 400 ) but it does work. Mark PS the unit has been rained on twice with no ill effects. |
