Defective Input Panel Tablet PC in Vista

1. The writing input/entry panel supplied for the Portuguese Portugal idiom
nd keyboard of windows vista home premium, supplied with the HP Pavilion
tx1270ep, bought last month in Portugal at a Staples store, priced at Euro
1,299, with a Product number GT491EA#B9, has the functionalities of
handwriting entry and correction disabled. Which means that an Windows
Product sold in Portugal as a Tablet PC enabler do not allow any Portuguese
of Portugal Tablet PC operation as such. The only thing it allows is to to
use the pen for normal (but not all) mouse operations, and to write text
letter by letter through the keyboard showed in the entry panel.

2. As such, the functionalities available for the personalization of the
handwriting recognition, which are sought as the most critical in a Tablet
PC, are not available (but completely disabled) for the Portuguese Portugal
idiom and keyboard.

3. Moreover, the windows journal can not be hand wrote with the Portuguese
Portugal

4. Desperately trying to overcome the problem, I installed the Portuguese
Brazilian idiom and keyboard as an additional idiom and keyboard option for
the entry panel, adding it to the already available options, the English US
and the (disabled) Portuguese Portugal.

5. . With the idiom Portuguese Brazil selected, I'm able to handwrite the in
the handwriting section and in the character correction section of the entry
panel in any Tablet PC compatible section. I can write windows journal notes,
on the e-mail, in One Note and, for example, in MS Word 2007.
BUT THE EVEN WITH THIS PORTUGUESE BRAZIL IDIOM SELECTED, the tools for the
handwriting recognition development, as available for the English US, are
also DISABLED. Which means the Tablet PC critical features for handwriting
are also lacking in this idiom and keyboard

5.With the Portuguese Brazilian idiom, I can report 50 recognition errors at
a time, which are reported to Microsoft, but are not registered locally in
the laptop, as it happens with those tools available for the the English US.
but can't use the critical tools available under the "Personalisation of the
handwriting recognition", which is an option under the "Tools" menu only for
the English US.

Conclusion: It is dishonest and deceptive selling a Portuguese Portugal
Windows Vista Home Premimum as a Tablet PC abled OS, when it isn't.

And I want to know when I'll get what I paid for from Microsoft.

Regards,
Luis Domingues
Portugal

RE: Defective Input Panel Tablet PC in Vista

The question was how to solve this? What other partner our competitor
products are available to solve this problem?

According to Microsoft in Portugal, there aren't a prevision nor do they
know if a Portuguese of Portugal will be enabled as an idiom and keyboard for
the input panel and personalization of handwriting associated tools. This is
deceptive and I'm complaining for. Be aware, non English users, that there
may be a big difference between what Microsoft claims for the product,
windows vista home premium, and what it really delivers. It´s deceptive and
dishonest.

If you are dissatisfied with the HP computer, take it back to the retailer
for either a different computer or refund.

The problem is not the PC, but Microsoft.

Your solution is with the retailer from whom you made the purchase.

Says pretty clearly here that Portugese is not supported. Where do you see
otherwise?
