M200 Blue Screen problems

OK this is a very involved problem and I hope someone here can help me out.
I have a Toshiba M200 tablet PC which i bought new only a couple months ago.
Shortly after getting it I also got an external DVD+RW drive (K2Xtreme) made
by Kano Technologies. Shortly after using this drive I would get STOP
messages (blue screens) flashing on my screen totally randomly mid-work
which would prompt a reboot-- I could never make out what notice it gave.
Also, it happened only once every couple of days. Gradually it began
happening more and more frequently, sometimes upon reboot instead of booting
windows I would get the message Driver32/ntfs.sys is missing or corrupt or
system32/system.sys is missing/corrupt. I'd then hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and
windows would boot as normal with microsoft flashing the "your system has
recovered from a serious error" window-- so i report it by clicking yes and
it would pop up a window saying "Error caused by device driver" but could
give nothing more specific than that. Eventually this blue screen
flash/reboot would happen once every 10 minutes or so and i decided i'd try
to photograph the screen as it happened and i discovered the errors were
sometimes 0x0000000A (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) or 0x0000008E followed by
mentioning win32k.sys address. Eventually windows would not boot at all and
upon powering on the computer I got System32/System.sys is missing/corrupt.

So I send the machine in to Toshiba repair center for a factory reimage
(because the machine cannot boot off of the external USB DVD+RW that I have
and has no internal optical drive). I get the machine back factory imaged,
everything spic and span and then it happens again (I used the external
DVD+RW drive again I supposed I should've waited a few days to see if it
happened to confirm whether this drive was in fact the root of the problem).
Anyway, so the same thing has been happening now, the first couple times
after recovering I'd get the Error caused by Device Driver page but most
recently (this morning) I got a new one: RAM containing Windows program code
was corrupted. I've not yet been able to photograph the blue STOP screen as
it happens for just a second and completely randomly. Now, I don't know
whether this is the same driver problem corrupting windows (i think it is)
or whether the RAM is bad too and its a seperate issue but I'm sending back
the computer to be repaired again but I don't know if once they replace the
RAM or whatever whether I will still encounter this problem once I resume
using this DVD+RW drive. I contacted Kano and they said that a problem of
this severity is tested for and so the drive couldn't be causing it and they
suggested I contact Toshiba for USB Driver updates but it seems there are
none to be had. Sorry for the long story but any ideas??? I would be forever
indebted to someone who could shed light on this for me.

I should also add that I use Viruscan 7.0 Enterprise from my university and
also an Epson printer and a digital camera but I don't think any of these
things could cause the problem (I don't in fact have any evidence that the
Kano DVD+RW drive is causing the problem but a couple times the random blue
screen/reboot was while playing a CD in the drive but sometimes I can play a
CD in it and it works fine). Also, I should note I have tried uninstalling
the drivers for the device as windows reads it: "USB Mass Storage Device"
and tried disabling 2 of the USB Root Hubs (one of them was the one for the
DVD+RW drive) but I got the STOP message even after this.

OK Update #2: I've been doing some research and have discovered that
everytime the blue screen of death flashes it creats a dump record in
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump and these files can be read using a program dumpchk.exe
which is on the XP CD but i don't have that sooo I downloaded it but can't
get it to work-- when I'm in the C prompt and typing in
dumpchk.exe<C:\WINDOWS>\memory.dmp i get Access is Denied (very weird). I
tried doing dumpchk.exe<C:\WINDOWS\Minidump>\Mini052704-02.dmp as well (the
four dump files are stored automatically in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump and I can
see them but again i got Access is Denied-- very bizarre. So I cannot
confirm what STOP messages I have been getting this time around. The plot
thickens...

Update #3: so now the blue screens hang around so I can see what they are--
they've been a whole slew of them-- 0x0000008E a few times, sometimes a
little 0x000000D1 or a little 0x0000007F or 0x00000050 but the craziest one
was c000021a which didnt have any text except for a couple lines indicating
it was a Fatal System Error. I ran memory diagnosic program i got from MS
website and one of the 6 tests (LRAND) fails all over the place (almost
4million failures) on the first pass but on successive passes it passes
(haha!) or rather it succeeds. So then i reboot and the machine works-- as
if the memory diagnostic fixes the problem termporarily. The Toshiba
diagnostic doesn't find any problems though-- I think at this point the RAM
is simply corrupted and I'll send the machine back and get everything sorted
out and when I get it back I'll hold off on using the external DVD+RW and
bitch to Kano to get them to send me a new one-- my only concern is though
that all these STOP errors are connected to driver incompatibility so I
can't help but thinking that there is still a driver problem going on...

Update #4: So yeah I'm just running extended memory diagnostic tests and
getting 40 million errors in one pass which is pretty exciting. The weird
thing is after running a couple passes of the extended diag (which takes
around 8 hours) the computer manages to work for some time (i'm using it
now) but my main question now is whether the RAM can be damaged by an
incorrect driver. Last time I sent the computer to Toshiba repair center
the problem was I was getting ntfs.sys or system.sys missing/corrupt but
this time windows always boots its just i get a blue screen-- so is it
possible this is a different problem?

Re: M200 Blue Screen problems

I note you've checked the RAM, and now receive a driver error. Look in
Device Manager to see if any of the hardware is "banged out" and designated
with an exclamation point. If so, try updating that device's driver. You
can also look in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer, clicking
on Application in the left pane.

This will reveal events in the right pane which may or may not have yellow
triangles with exclamation points or red circles with white X's in them.
Those are indicative of errors, and a right-click and selection of
Properties will reveal a portion of the error message to give us a clue.
This could pinpoint which driver is having the problem.

Re: M200 Blue Screen problems

Try running :

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drwtsn32.exe

to see your past blue screens.
