using outlook 2003 on an hp 1100 tablet pc running windows xp. It is connected to a corporate network, which is using exchange 5.5.

Ink no longer works in outlook only, all other programs function nomally.
ms word is set up as the email editor in outlook 2003.

uninstalling and reinstalling outlook or office does not correct the issue.

Do you have the ink menu options showing? One is "Ink Annotations" and the
other is "Ink Drawing and Writing" and note that this only works in the body
of the message.

Also check the message format. Your network could have a default of
TXT or something set up. IIRC in Outlook 2002 I could use rich text
for some people successfully, and HTML is the only one in my 2003
environment that is successful now. So check what format (rich text,
text only, HTML) you're trying to use, and set your default to HTML to
see if that resolves the issue (tools, options, mail format).

I've also seen some randomness in a domain envrionment where if
someone sent the mail in one format, just doing a reply and trying to
change the format to HTML wasn't enough to allow it to function
properly. I'd often change from replying to forwarding and it would
clear it up some, or else replying, not entering anything, saving it
as a draft in HTML format, then re-opening it again. This was all in
my Exchange 5.5 envrionment as well, which no longer seems to be such
an issue now that I've migrated that exchange server to a new 2003
machine.

Are you also using Exchange? Are you using Word 2003 as your email editor?

And I Located the fix. I edited a doc in word and the Two Tool bars in Word for annotation and Comment took president.

I Turned them off and selected Ink Drawing &writing and I am back in business

Good for you! There is more information in Word's Help, too, which may
assist your in the usage.

Ink Annotations and Ink Drawing are showing, however they are greyed out. I am going to try that word trick...but i will let you know how it works out
