| Re: SP2 on Acer c300 Hi, I have SP2RC1 installed on my Acer C301 and it works fine. The HWR is much better. The only thing I've seen is that some web material when clicked on is sent as a text file. I've already reported it to Microsoft. -- Chris De Herrera http://www.cewindows.net http://www.tabletpctalk.com "Roger" <roger_id********.com> wrote in message news:uVQh0l2PEHA.2216@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > Anyone tried SP2 on AcerC300? It even allowed me to choose the directory where I wanted it saved to. I chose my data drive because it had the most room available. |

I have imaging software but I didn't take an image because I just didn't feel like it that day. I did set a restore point but I don't think I am going to need it. |

| Re: SP2 on Acer c300 Until my apparently unrelated monitor issue I was running SP 2 with no problems other than if you have the latest monitor drivers from Intel (not the ones that ship with it) you lose the automatic screen rotation when you change from laptop to slate mode. Not a big deal since the button still works. I didn't see any improvements with the new driver so I rolled back to the original ones to get the automatic screen rotation back. The improvements to the TIP in SP2 worth the update for me. -- Cheryl D. | Re: SP2 on Acer c300 I installed Microsoft's XP SP2 a few days ago (9/17/2004), and I have had *serious* problems with my WiFi connectivity ever since. Every time I connect to the Internet using my wireless LAN, my computer freezes shortly thereafter. I am forced to cut the power and restart. I have not run into these problems when I am using my wired LAN, and I have not noticed any other issues. Customer service reps for both Microsoft AND Acer have recomended uninstalling SP2, so you should think twice before you go ahead. I really wish Microsoft and Acer would communicate more clearly and directly with their users about this stuff. In addition, Microsoft really, really needs to improve the quality of the software it releases. After a wasted weekend getting headaches over this stuff, Mac and Linux are looking really good to me right now (For the search engines: Acer TravelMate C301XCi ). -- fitzjohn ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via http://www.mcse.ms ------------------------------------------------------------------------ View this thread: http://hardware.mcse.ms/message10987.html |

| Re: SP2 on Acer c300 Do you currently have SP2 installed? If so, do a reinstall of the wireless drivers followed by verifying your settings are correct. In some cases, the drivers don't seem to transfer over to the new install properly. I had one machine which had no driver listed and nothing listed in Network Connections - even though I was connected to the LAN and Internet - until the third restart. -- Chris H. | Re: SP2 on Acer c300 I think Chris is on the right track. Before replacing my Acer due to multiple hardware problems I ran several different beta versions of SP 2 on it with no wireless or other problems. I did need to reinstall the video drivers after one of the beta installs to get it to function properly again. So try reinstalling the wireless drivers and make sure you have wireless zero configuration enabled. Might also check for any updates needed by your wireless router. -- Cheryl D Wise Microsoft FrontPage MVP http://mvp.WiserWays.com "fitzjohn" <fitzjohn.1cwiui@mail.mcse.ms> wrote in message news:fitzjohn.1cwiui@mail.mcse.ms... > > I installed Microsoft's XP SP2 a few days ago (9/17/2004), and I have > had *serious* problems with my WiFi connectivity ever since.
