| SP2 Questions Hi All, Just got my Toshiba. Love it... Now, the question I have is that should I try the SP2 RC1. I have my Toshiba the way I like it now. I am worry if I install SP2, all hell will break lose. But I do want to see Sp2's features, as a programmer :-) What is the prefer method of going back? System Restore, Uninstall, or REINSTALL? Thanks, Alex |

| Re: SP2 Questions Hi, Alex, Congratulations! The Toshiba is a great Tablet! My favorite method is to have an image created now, while you have things the way you want. You can save it to a second partition if you have one. If not, it will take 3rd party software such as Partition Magic or BootItNG to create one without destroying your existing data. Then, if you have a problem with SP2, you can just reinstall the image. A restore point is also good, but an image is definitely the safest way to protect things. -- Terri Stratton Microsoft Windows MVP / Tablet PC http://thetabletpc.net Expert Zone - http://microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/default.asp "Smartikat" <wonga@_SMARTIKAT_MossMotors.com> wrote in message news:efxx37bPEHA.904@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl... > Hi All, > > Just got my Toshiba. This lets you even hit F11 at boot prior to the OS loading to get into it's own special boot environment without having to have any boot media - i.e. no floppies or CD's needed. You can even make images while the OS is running. Terri's comments and my additions being said, using a beta product is *always* risky. There's all the normal comments about doing it in a test envionment, being prepared to have to reinstall (or reimage as we do) the OS, not doing it on a production machine you rely on, etc.. And it's all very solid advice. It really depends on your comfort level doing certain things. If you're willing to take the risk (and at this point it really *is* a small risk, but still a risk nonetheless - if even 1 person out of 100 has to reimage his machine, it's a HUGE inconvenience for that one person even though it's only a 1% issue) and you're prepared to restore if you need to, I think you'll find that SP2 is well worth installing. It makes the tablet experience even more enjoyable and productive than it ever was before. And above and beyond the tablet enhancements, I couldn't live without the security enhancements that SP2 gave to internet explorer anymore either. Good luck either way you decide. :) John |

| Re: SP2 Questions I also have the Toshiba and have installed SP2 (just about every version that has been released) without issues. But, just in case, the products that have been referred to are great. I should know that my tablet is a backup machine, not my primary work computer so I am not as concerned if I break things on it. -- Gary A. But I do want to see Sp2's features, as a programmer :-) I put it on my Toshiba 3500 and am liking the result (with the new TIP) much more than the old. And no troubles. But as yet SP2 *is* still a beta and needs further work, so you need to be sure of being able to unwind. I made an image of the partition with an imaging program, so can go back to that exact state. When the final arrives I will first try Uninstall (which will be provided like or not - you have to check a box in Add/remove to see it under SP2) and only if that fails go back to my Image. I would be very reluctant to install final over Beta -- Alex Nichol MS MVP (Windows Technologies) Bournemouth, U.K. Alexn@mvps.D8E8L.org (remove the D8 bit) |

I know I didn't re-image, and I seriously doubt that I used a restore. |
